INVESTING IN CHESHIRE WEST AND CHESTER
Chester, one of England’s finest heritage cities,
and the Cheshire West area is a renowned
tourism location and an aspirational location
within which to live and work. Chester’s Roman
and Tudor historic centre is a cultural mecca yet
step outside the city and you’ll find rural market
towns, significant industrial centres and one of the

alongside a well-established manufacturing base,
the area is one of the most sought-after business
locations in the UK.
Demonstrated by the presence of major national
and international names including Essar, Tata
Chemicals, Vauxhall Motors, Jiffy Packaging, and
Ecolab – Cheshire West and Chester is also an
established financial centre of excellence with
Bank of America, Virgin Money and Marks and
Spencer Money all calling Chester home.
Cheshire West and Chester Council is a
progressive, investment-focused authority,
pushing forward development and regeneration.
Major investment has taken place in Ellesmere
Port, part of the successful Cheshire Science
Corridor Enterprise Zone. Several relocations and
expansions have taken place including Prowell
Group, Thysen Technology, and German-owned
Helukabel – industrial and specialist R&D facilities
are in high-demand.

A range of Council owned development
opportunities exist including:
Ellesmere Port - sites exist across the key locations
in Newbridge Road Ellesmere Port comprising
of a mixture of public and Council owned plots,
approximately 10 acres is currently available for a
variety of industrial and commercial uses.
Ellesmere Port waterfront - three mixed use
sites comprising up to 11 acres are available at
a key waterside location. A prime development
opportunity with excellent connectivity and access
to over 10 million customers within a 1-hour drive
time. Potential for a range of uses particularly
leisure and commercial.
Winsford – several new developments including
17 acres of industrial land with planning for
industrial and/or distribution. And a further
2.9 acres suitable for a variety of roadside uses
– strategically located close to the M6 north/south.

In Winsford a £5 million infrastructure scheme has
been completed bringing forward 30ha of land
for manufacturing businesses. Anchor tenant
Tiger Trailers has committed to a £20 million
investment into growing its business on the site.
Elsewhere the Council is spearheading a number
of other major investments including phase one
of the Northgate development in the heart of
Chester city providing mixed use opportunities;
retail-led Barons Quay Northwich and Winsford
Cross Shopping Centre. Further expansion
opportunities exist at phase 2 of gateway scheme,
City Place, adjacent to Chester railway station.
