Marathon Petroleum Company, Catlettsburg Refinery, KY Capacity Improvement Study of LPCCR Platformer Heater (1-44-B-1/2/3/4) Section 2 Scope of Services & Design Basis 2.1 Scope of Services Following scope of services is considered for the Capacity Improvement Study of Platformer Heater: 2.1.1 Review & Evaluation of Existing Platformer Heater ❖ Review of existing design and drawings of the heater ❖ Study of existing burner data sheets and drawings ❖ Study of existing Process Flow Diagrams ❖ Study of existing Piping & Instrumentation Diagram ❖ Build a computer model of the existing heater ❖ Carry out the thermal simulation of the existing heater: 2.1.2 Current Operation Analysis ❖ Obtain plant operating data from Marathon Catlettsburg Refinery for the past 3 years ❖ Arrange, analyze & trend operating data ❖ Select three sets of data corresponding to minimum, average and maximum operating conditions to identify the critical operating parameters for each data ❖ Simulate the performance of the heater at these operating conditions ❖ Check existing burner performance at current conditions ❖ Remark and conclusion of the current condition of the heater 2.1.3 Proposed Options ❖ Evaluate Split Flow Technology and develop options to increase the heater capacity ❖ Modeling the heater at projected operating conditions ❖ Develop preliminary specifications of the modifications- radiant section, convection section, stack, piping ❖ Identify modifications in the heater ❖ Estimate ± 30% cost estimate of the proposed modification 2.1.4 Exclusions Presently, our scope does not include the engineering / man hours for the following: Furnace Improvements Low Cost Solutions for Fired Heaters 15
