SouthCoastSymphony.org 16 “Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezin” Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall The Pacific Symphony and Pacific Chorale will perform “Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezin” in a concert/drama that commemorates the courageous Jewish prisoners in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp during World War II, who performed the work 16 times as an act of defiance and resistance to their Nazi captors. The performance is interspersed with historic film, testimony from survivors and narration. PacificSymphony.org 3/30 - XXII" 21"Bubblefest Discovery Cube OC Bubblefest features hands-on bubble science and the amazing Mega Bubblefest Laser Show starring Deni and Melody Yang. Interactive spaces include the Mega Bubble Courtyard, Water Spheres and the Bubblefest Zone, where the whole family can learn bubble science from surface tension, elasticity, air pressure and geometric properties. SouthCoastPlaza.com/GardenShow 5 "Third Coast Percussion" Samueli Theater/Segerstrom Center The first percussion ensemble to win a Grammy Award in a chamber music category, this Chicago-based quartet did just that in 2017 for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance. The group, formed with students at Northwestern University, has since become noted for its unusual collaborations and audience connection. Composer Philip Glass has created a new work for them - his first for percussion ensemble. SCFTA.org 17 "Alan Cumming: Legal Immigrant" Musco Center for the Arts Tony Award-winning Scottish - American actor Alan Cumming is many things to many people: provocateur, social activist, bon vivant, stage and television star (The Good Wife, Instinct) - and, above all, storyteller. He became an American citizen in 2008 and “Legal Immigrant” is a cabaret of stories and songs about his life and loves in his adopted homeland.
