Razzamataz Cambridge Theatre school children perform with BGT winners Collabro and The Kindom Choir. In 2014, UK musical theatre group Collabro burst onto the scene having been crowned winners of the eighth series of Britain’s Got Talent. Having performed across the globe to standing ovations from the US, Japan and Canada, they are now back in the UK on tour and giving British children a taste of the limelight. The lucky youngsters all attend Razzamataz Cambridge and will be performing alongside Collabro at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. There are 30 children from the ages of 8 to 16 who will take part in Collabro’s ‘Road to the Royal Albert Hall’ tour after previously having performed on their ‘Home’ tour. Students from Razzamataz Cambridge will also be performing with The Kingdom Choir on their ‘Stand by Me’ tour at Cambridge Corn Exchange in May. The Kingdom Choir shot to fame after performing at the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. New Arrivals at Hamerton Zoo Park! KUMON Our aim at Kumon is to help children of any age and any ability discover their full potential. Established for 60 years, the Kumon Maths and English Programmes enable students to develop the confidence and skills to tackle challenging work independently. The Kumon Maths and English Programmes help to build a solid foundation whilst developing ability in small, manageable steps. Through the use of example questions, students are encouraged to problem solve and work out answers independently. Our programmes place great importance on self-learning, encouraging students to discover how to solve problems for themselves. As our students begin to take ownership of their learning and become independent learners, they develop invaluable confidence and self-motivation. With guidance and support from the Instructor, Kumon students build fluency, ability and confidence, as well as a love of learning. Kumon Instructors continuously monitor, guide and challenge students to grow by gradually increasing the level of difficulty of the worksheets they assign, while taking into account increases in each student’s level of academic ability. Some are already bursting with excitement about this new adventure while others — children and parents alike — might be nervous about such a big change. The first few weeks in Reception class focus on settling-in, learning new routines and, of course, having fun. But now, the government is rolling out plans to also test children in English and maths during those first few weeks of term, and one campaign group is urging parents to make a stand against the proposals. More Than A Score argues that it’s not fair to take children away from their friends to sit a test which won’t provide any reliable and useful information about what they can or can’t do. The data collected in class will be used to calculate progress in the coming years. The campaign group has conducted research with heads and other primary school leaders which shows that 96% believe the first few weeks of term should not be spent preparing children in Reception class for tests.
