Estopa Reserva 2015 has<br />

mellow aromas of black<br />

cherries with a touch of<br />

smoke. It is smooth in<br />

texture with juicy fruits<br />

and good depth, finishing<br />

on bitter chocolate and<br />

cherry notes. Grapes were<br />

grown on vines planted 15 years ago on steep<br />

terraces in the Cima Corgo (Upper Corgo)<br />

sub-region of the Douro. Grapes were picked,<br />

de-stemmed and crushed. After fermentation<br />

at 22 to 23°C, the wine was matured in new<br />

French oak barrels for six months.<br />

An immensely appealing wine with bags<br />

of personality. It is intense in colour with a<br />

warming mellow bouquet with dark fruits, a<br />

hint of fresh leather and warm puppy. It is soft<br />

and smooth, rich and full-bodied. Supple fruit<br />

and black cherry flavours are complemented<br />

by smoke and soot. It has a fine texture and<br />

is delicious to drink now with the potential<br />

for some cellaring. The majority of the blend<br />

is 80% Touriga Nacional with 19% Souzão<br />

and 1% Touriga Franca grown on terraced<br />

schist soils in the Douro Superior subregion.<br />

Grapes were destemmed, crushed<br />

and fermented at 22 to 25°C. The wine was<br />

matured in new French oak barrels for twelve<br />

months and was bottled in June 2015.<br />
