Burn Awareness
Video Contest
A Millis team was among
the Massachusetts high school
students and their media teachers
honored for their creative
YouTube videos as part of
the 11th annual statewide You-
Tube TM Burn Awareness Video
Contest. State Fire Marshal Peter
J. Ostroskey was joined by contest
co-sponsors Ron Meehan from
the Mass. Property Insurance Underwriting
Association (MPIUA)
and Capt. Rick Tustin, president
of the Mass. Association of Safety
and Fire Educators (MaSAFE),
Saugus Fire Chief Michael C.
Newbury of the Fire Chiefs’ Association
of Massachusetts and
Peabody Lt. Christopher Dowling,
president of the Fire Prevention
Association of Massachusetts.
The ceremony was held today at
the Shriners Hospital for Children
® — Boston.
The winning videos can be
seen on the Department of Fire
Services’ YouTube TM channel at
www.youtube.com/DFSOSFM.
Millis received an honorable
mention for its entry, “Safety
Huddle,” from students Adriana
Arguijo, Tyler Gelasco, Peter
Sanchioni, Zach Whooten, and
Cody Rossi, who tell the story
teamwork in fire prevention
through the lens of how a football
team operates. This is a fun
riff on Herb Brooks’ motivational
speech to the 1980 Olympic
hockey team. And their final
message – Fire Safety is a Team
Effort was something the judges
appreciated. The filming enhanced
the story, lending to the
seriousness of what was trying to
be accomplished. Teamwork and
fire prevention are what is important
in fire safety. Their teacher is
Ms. Danielle Mannion.

20th Annual Earth Day Charles
River Cleanup April 27th
Medway & Millis Locations Available;
Volunteers Asked to Register

It will take place at various
locations in Franklin, but the
20th Annual Earth Day Charles
River Cleanup will span locations
in 35 different Massachusetts
towns on Saturday, April
27, 2019. Volunteers will band
together to remove litter and
beautify the Charles River in
one of the largest one-day rivercleanups
in the country. Volunteers
will come from corporate,
community and youth groups
to help protect the Commonwealth’s
important natural resource.
If you would like to volunteer,
you must register at crwa.
org/cleanup.

will take place from 9 a.m. to 12
p.m. along the river, volunteers
are invited to picnic lunches
from 12-1 p.m. at three locations
throughout the region. In
Boston, at DCR’s Fiedler Field,
next to the Hatch Memorial
Shell, a speaking program will
take place at 12:30 p.m.
