FLEX-FOOT ®
FLEX-FOOT CHARACTERISTICS
SPLIT TOE
A split toe feature allows the foot to adjust to the surface below, allowing amputees to walk naturally on uneven ground. Also
available in solid toe.
Benefits: Helps to maintain balance, stability and reduces peak impact during loading.
SPLIT TOE
SANDAL TOE
Narrow, anatomically correct foot cover for use with a sandal toe shoe.
Benefits: More anatomical look for increased visual appeal and more functional compatibility with sandal shoes.
SANDAL TOE
WATERPROOF
The use of first-rate material such as carbon fiber, titanium and high-grade aluminum provides permanent protection against
harmful ingress of water. Even after submersion in water, the foot’s structural parts maintain their integrity and continue to
provide full support, function and durability.
When the foot is directly laminated onto the socket the device is waterproof. The components used with the foot need to be
waterproof as well.
WATERPROOF
ÖSSUR FEET
WEATHERPROOF
A weatherproof device allows use in a wet and/or humid environment but does not allow submersion. Fresh water splashing
against teh enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect. Dry thoroughly after contact with fresh water. Fresh
water: Includes tap water. Excludes salt and chlorinated water.
When used with pyramid or T attachment the device is weatherproof. For a weatherproof system, only weatherproof
components must be selected.
HYDRAULIC DORSIFLEXION
The hydraulic dorsiflexion and plantarflexion provides the user with toe clearance in swing phase.
Benefits: Decreases the risk of trips and falls.
UNITY ® VACUUM SUSPENSION SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
WEATHERPROOF
HYDRAULIC
FLEXION
Building on renowned Iceross Seal-In technology, Össur designers and engineers have developed a form of advanced vacuum suspension that
is also compatible with Flex-Foot technology.
The design challenge was to apply elevated vacuum with a Seal-In liner, using a simple pump mechanism which had minimal impact on the
function of the foot. By applying vacuum where it is needed – around the distal part of the limb – Unity helps to stabilize volume while creating
highly effective and sleeveless vacuum suspension.
Without a sleeve, range-of-motion is not restricted and vacuum can be released quickly and easily at the touch of a button. The design also
minimizes the risk of proximal vacuum leakage and the puncture issues associated with more traditional ‘above-knee’ vacuum methods.
KEY ADVANTAGES
Unity offers the security and freedom of vacuum suspension, but without the sensation and restrictions of a sleeve. This advanced system from
Össur effectively addresses volume fluctuation and is totally compatible with Flex-Foot technology.
• No sleeve required: Greater mobility and user acceptance
• Distal vacuum: Effective volume stabilization
• Simple design: Quick and easy to achieve/release vacuum
• Independent pump: Shock function uncompromised
MAIN APPLICATIONS
Unity is available for a host of feet, which together suit a wide spectrum of users. Transfemoral users can enjoy Unity as well as transtibial, since
tube finishing options for Össur knees are available. Iceross Seal-In ® X TF was designed to allow for optional seal placement and hold up to
the strong vacuum created by Unity.
