cute. “My significant other and I had
been trying to teach our dog to make
less of a mess in our house—specifically,
to not pull toilet paper off the
roll.”

out, about two feet of toilet paper

A Very Punctual Puppy
“My dog, Libby, rides with me to pick
up my kids from school, and she
knows exactly what time we leave.
The kids had an after-school activity

leave at the normal time, she started
whining at me.

shoe with her paw, hard, so it flew
through the air and hit me. She threw

Egg On Your Face
While some cats like to play with
stuffed mice, catnip, and jingle balls.
“My cat likes to play with plastic Easter
eggs. She picks a half up in her
mouth, and trots around with it, yowling
all the while, with the egg functioning
as an amplifier. One year we
got the kids these big eggs … and
eventually, she found one and tried
to play with it the same way.”
Sadly for this cat, it didn’t work out.
“When she picked it up, it flipped up
over face and covered her eyes. She
panicked and started running around,
clanging into the baseboard heaters
and whatever else. It was hysterical!
She finally dropped it and stood there
dazed. And [then she] picked up the
egg and did it again. And again. And
again.” When will they learn?
Here’s another cat who didn’t learn
from her mistakes.”One day, after we
had gotten seven or eight inches of
snow, my cat decided to be a brave
adventurer and dash out of the door.”
“She knows she absolutely hates
snow, but always does this. …
She runs out, jumps into the snow,
and disappears. I’m sitting there
letting her learn her lesson. I hear a
muffled meow-scream as she very,
very slowly lifts her head up above
the snow. Her mouth stays wide open

… and [she] continues to stare at me
doing this meow until I came and

A Sticky Situation
Ever buy your pet an expensive toy
and they still choose to play with a
paper bag instead? “My cat once discovered
a roll of fly tape in a kitchen
cabinet. Not sure how he managed it,
but we walked in the door to find he
had effectively hog-tied himself in the
middle of the floor.
A big fat cat with long gray fur sticking
out in giant tufts between the strips
of tacky, gooey tape he’d managed to
wind all over himself, crimping his tail
in two places.”
“We felt horrible for laughing, but it
was such a ridiculous scene that we
were still cracking up even while cutting
the tape away and checking to
make sure his tail wasn’t broken. (He
was a little traumatized and temporarily
looked like a case of Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde with many random bald
spots, but otherwise perfectly fine).”

Congratulations to all of the officers from Pinehurst and Seven Lakes that
were recently elected for this year’s term of the Vietnam Veterans Of America,
Chapter 966.
VVA CHAPTER #966 welcomes all their brothers and sisters who served in
Vietnam between February 28, 1961 and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location
between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975. Joining VVA allows you to connect
with other veterans, stay up with the latest on special events. You’ll also receive
a FREE subscription to our award-winning newspaper, The VVA Veteran.
Live music and fun kids’ activities will ensure
a good time for all ages. Food trucks will be on-site with a wide
selection for all to enjoy. Beer, wine, and additional beverages will
also be available for purchase. Picnic baskets are allowed;
however, outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
This is a great FREE event the entire family is sure to enjoy.

Catching Up With Music Artists

Ryan and Justin Harris, of McKenzies
Mill Band will be traveling from Nashville,
TN to Seven Lakes for a benefit
show performing on stage outdoors
at the Lakehouse Bar and Grill on
May 17th.
It’s not very often that the brothers
are in town performing so make sure
you take advantage of their appearance
and arrive early for a good seat.
The show is free but donations are
accepted by the Seven Lakes Business
Guild to enhance the Seven
Lakes Business Village.
Reuben Kennedy will “kick off” the
show performing at 6:30. Reuben
is Ryan and Justin’s cousin and is a
local musician. His music is “Southern
Rock Americana” with a folksy
element.
Reuben served 4 years recently in the
Army as a “Combat Medic “ and was
deployed and served a tour in Afghanistan
where he was awarded the
Bronze Star and the Combat Medic
Badge. Reuben recently completed
his A.A at Sandhills CC and will
be attendng ECU to earn his B.S. in
nursing.
Reuben continued to perfect his
“hobby” while stationed at Ft. Bliss in
El Paso playing bars and Texas honky
tonks while becoming a seasoned
performer. You can catch a show
with Reuben locally at O’Donnell’s
Pub, Jefferson Inn and other venues.
He also hosts open Mic Night at
O’Donnell’s
McKenzies Mill brothers have been
extremely busy playing at such
venues as the Wild Horse Saloon in
Nashville.
The duo consistently receives rave
reviews for their performances of
fresh “Southern Fried Rock & Roll”,
from the crowd as well as Nashville
insiders.
The music duo are in the process of
heading to the studio to produce an
album consisting of approximately 15
new songs written by the brothers.
Advance production has been finalized
and veteran Nashville musician
and Grammy Nominated producer
Kent Wells will be produc-ing the
album. Among other nota-bles, Kent
is the producer for Dolly Parton.

years of experience with clients
ranging from multi-platinum charttoppers
to talented newcomers with
ambition and drive, looking to record
a demo in Nashville.
They have the experience, the knowledge,
the connections, the talent and

Justin is on the way to Europe this upcoming

country band based in Austria which
is slated to tour Germany in June and
Austria
in August. The band was founded
in 2017 by Mario Barth and Gernot
Pachernigg in Las Vegas, Nevada.
During a video shoot far out in the
desert, the idea arose to create a
joint band project and create their
debut single “Easy Rider “.
The two Easy Riders and their powerful
unique sound now move across
the country together and bringing
“rock music, love and anything but
good” to the masses. The first full
length record of “About Kings” is currently
being recorded in Nashville and
is set to release for the summer 2019
with their first tour.
Mario, is the famous celebrity tattoo
artist and owner of the premier international
tattoo enterprise with tattoo
studios at major casino/resorts in Las
Vegas, Foxwoods in CT and Austria.
