“Tales from the Savannah”
Three Friends. Two Kings. One Adventure.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
In January 2019, we started rehearsing “Tales from the Savannah”, the story of
Timon and Pumbaa, a couple of outcasts who meet up with a lion cub that
would, eventually, be king. We auditioned and managed to assemble a stellar
team of actors, musicians and singers, and then spent our time after school
working hard to bring the script to life. I have been really impressed with the
dedication and commitment shown by both staff and students in order to
make this project a success.
We have seen certain performers bloom on stage, creating dynamic and
interesting characters. We have seen children, who are naturally quiet and
reserved, embrace the challenge and perform with new found confidence.
Hopefully, our cast will take away some great memories of our rehearsal process
and performance. I would also like to extend my appreciation to our
backstage crew for helping support the children in this production. Without
their help, the show would not have been possible, and that also goes for all
the teachers who have covered for staff who have worked on the show, ensuring
lessons have not been disrupted.
I am also pleased that the whole show is dedicated to assisting less fortunate
members of the community. We have never lost sight of our mission to put on
a show to raise money for a therapy pool. It is important that our children
learn how to have a sense of community and the importance of charity.
Finally, I hope you enjoy the production and on behalf of the Production team
and the Special Education Centre, thank you for your support and generosity!
CAST MEMBERS’ REFLECTION
VIYANA MORADIAN, P5 PEACE (TIMON)
“I honestly never even knew I could remember so many lines. I’m really proud of my
effort for it. I will also never forget all the new friends I made behind the scenes; we
laugh, we cry together but we always have each other’s backs.”
JAGUAR - KANPHONG PINNAREE, P4 JOY (PUMBAA)
“In joining “Tales from the Savannah”, the most memorable part of my experience
was making friends and learning that helping others, like the students in the
Nakhon Nayok Special Needs School, is good”
TIGGY - THANAIRAT LIMVIPHUWAT, P3 PEACE (YOUNG SIMBA)
“I thought it was just a normal production but I found out that we were doing it for
charity. I learned that there are others who don’t have much, and we are helping
them.”
SOPHIE LAM, P6 JOY (SCAR)
“One thing I discovered about myself was being able to work with people I didn’t
know since it was a multi-level, multi-class production. Making friends is the best
part and the whole experience was fun! Also, knowing that we are helping others
makes me feel good.”
PAT - PATAMENEE JINADIT, P6 LOVE (NALA)
“In joining “Tales from the Savannah”, I discovered that I have potential as an actress.
We also learned how the less fortunate need our help and we should care for them.”
