We’re very excited at Mokena<br />
Park District to be offering an<br />
expanded schedule this summer<br />
for our Free Music & Movies<br />
in the Park at the Yunker Farm<br />
Bandshell. There will be a free<br />
outdoor movie or concert every<br />
Thursday evening in June and<br />
July. Movies include “Harry Potter<br />
and the Sorcerer’s Stone” on<br />
June 13, “Mary Poppins Returns”<br />
on June 27, “Tangled” on July 16<br />
and “Coco” on July 25.<br />
The park district will feature<br />
these bands: 4th Point on June 6,<br />
The Walk-Ins on June 20 and The<br />
Wild Upside on July 18. Concerts<br />
begin at 7 p.m. and movies<br />
begin at 8:15 p.m. Concessions<br />
will be available. Come out to<br />
Yunker Farm and enjoy the terraced<br />
grass seating or bring your<br />
lawn chairs or blankets for these<br />
free family-friendly outdoor<br />
events.<br />
Cool off and relax at the Splash<br />
Pad this summer. Opening day<br />
is May 28. The Splash Pad will<br />

be open daily through Aug. 19,<br />
weather permitting. Sessions are:<br />
Noon-1:30 p.m., 2-3:30 p.m. and<br />
4-5:30 p.m. On Wednesdays an<br />
additional session is open from<br />
10-11:30 a.m. Walk-up rates are<br />
$1 per session, per resident, $3<br />
for non-residents. A 13-visit discounted<br />
punch card is also available<br />
to residents for $10. Adults<br />
18 and older with a paying child<br />
are free and children under 2 are<br />
also free. Please note that from<br />
Aug. 19-Sept. 1, the Splash Pad<br />
will be open with limited hours.<br />

The Park ‘n Bark Dog Park at<br />
Yunker Farm has been a howling<br />
success. It’s a great way for dogs<br />
and their owners to exercise and<br />
socialize. The dog park is open<br />
year-round from dawn to dusk,<br />
and it’s even more comfortable<br />
for our pet parents with the addition<br />
of two shelters with benches<br />
and tables. With separate sections<br />
for small dogs and large<br />

FUN the<br />
dogs, everyone can have fun. An<br />
annual pass is required to use the<br />
park and proof of your dog’s immunizations<br />
must be provided.<br />
An annual pass for residents is<br />
$15 and $25 for non-residents<br />
for the first dog, and $5 for each<br />
additional dog. Passes are available<br />
at the Administration Office.<br />
Mokena Park District and<br />
Mokena Library are teaming<br />
up again this year to offer food<br />
vendors and free children’s activities<br />
from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on<br />
the Fourth of July at Main Park.<br />
Activities include a DJ, bounce<br />
houses, balloon artist, face painting,<br />
games and stage entertainment.<br />

addition to our Community Celebration.<br />
The fun doesn’t stop there.<br />
Other events that you won’t want<br />
to miss are the Farm & Barn<br />
Fest on Aug. 10, the free Back<br />
to School Bash on Aug. 15, and<br />
