TLC Fibre Federal is partner in a strong community Whether it’s higher rates on savings or lower rates on loans — or feedback from satisfied customers — the message is clear: TLC in Newport is the place to be. A division of Fibre Federal Credit Union, TLC is proud to partner with organizations, projects, and events in each of its communities through its Community Investment Program. “By doing good throughout its membership areas, TLC and Fibre Federal help shape a more positive future for communities and members,” said Angie Leppert, chief experience officer for Fibre Federal. TLC has been an active supporter of several community non-profits, such as Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County, Neighbors for Kids, Newport Food Pantry, Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital Foundation and Oregon Coast Community College Foundation. “Our Community Investment Program is focused on the areas of K-12 education, higher education through our local community colleges, community health services, addressing the unique needs and challenges of low-income families, and creating an improved quality of life for residents throughout our membership area,” Leppert said. “Our total community impact dollars were $221,409 in 2018.” That translated to help for 217 organizations and work by 192 volunteers. While the credit union is quick to spread benefit throughout the community, as a member of TLC, customers see a more immediate benefit, with access to higher rates on savings, lower rates on loans, and a wide range of convenient financial services at little or no cost. “Just as important, TLC will earn your trust and confidence,” Leppert said. “You’ll find that the people who work at BEST OF 7 NEWPORT TLC are working for you, not for a group of outside stockholders trying to make a profit on your money.” In 2018, TLC was voted Number 1 Best Bank or Credit Union for the 12th year in a row by the Longview Daily News “Best of” Readers’ Poll. It was also named one of the Top 200 Healthiest Credit Unions for the fifth year in a row by DepositAccounts - up to position number 26. Here at home, the Newport branch was voted Best Credit Union in Newport; Lincoln City and Newport branches were voted Best Credit Union in Lincoln County by the Newport News-Times Readers’ Choice poll. So what does TLC stand for? It means Tillamook, Lincoln and Clatsop counties, the three counties the credit union originally served. On the central coast, TLC currently serves nearly 1,500 members in Newport and over 6,000 members in Lincoln County overall. Longview, Wash-based Fibre Federal Credit Union acquired TLC Federal Credit Union in 2015, and currently operates branches under the TLC brand in Astoria, Seaside, Tillamook, Lincoln City, and Newport. A sixth TLC branch will be built in Warrenton in 2019. Fibre Federal Credit Union also operates nine branches and an operations center in Cowlitz County, Wash. and Rainier, Ore. It comprises more than 95,000 members and 14 branches. Because TLC participates in the CO-OP Shared Branch Network, all branches are open not only to TLC members, but also to members of all credit unions which belong to CO-OP – a network that encompasses over 5,500 credit union branches and over 30,000 ATMs nationwide.
