“Yeah,” Hunter said, “What has too many Ns?”<br />

“<strong>The</strong> bell!” Christina answered.<br />

“<strong>The</strong>re are no Ns in bell,” Grant said, rolling his<br />

eyes. “Even lousy spellers know that.”<br />

“You don’t understand,” Christina explained.<br />

“Pennsylvania is spelled P-E-N-N-S-Y-L-V-A-N-I-A<br />

with two Ns in Penn.”<br />

“Congratulations!” Hunter said and laughed.<br />

“You know how to spell my home state.”<br />

“No!” Christina said, annoyed. “Don’t you get it?<br />

I read everything I could get my hands on about <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>Bell</strong> before we came here. When <strong>the</strong> bell<br />

was made, <strong>the</strong> makers spelled Pennsylvania P-E-N<br />

with only one N!’”<br />
