Introduction
On Tuesday 4th June, social housing professionals from across
Scotland met at Clydebank Housing Association to share and
discuss innovation in smart heat controls.
In particular, delegates learned how social landlords are
increasingly recognising the value of remote home sensors,
and utilising the internet of things to better manage assets
and improve customer service.
In early 2018 Clydebank Housing Association began a trial
of around 30 Beanbag smart heat controls in a range of its
properties, using remote sensors to give tenants greater
control over their heating.
It was hoped that tenants would benefit from optimised
efficiency, an improved home environment and reduced
fuel bills, whilst Clydebank would enjoy access to remote
property analytics, ranging from temperature, humidity,
boiler performance - plus building fabric and health.
The event shared the housing association’s experience of
smart heat controls to date, what it has learnt from the trial,
including the benefits so far, and the potential value for the
future. There were also a number of presentations and group
discussions surrounding the topic.
