SCHOOL STORY
ABOUT SISB EKKAMAI
Founded in 2001, SISB currently has three campuses
in Thailand, which adopt the Singapore and UK
curricula as the foundation for teaching and learning.
The SISB name is inspired by our first campus,
the Singapore International School of Bangkok
(2001), the first Singapore International School that
was established in Thailand which pioneered the
Singapore education curriculum.
Singapore International School of Bangkok was
founded through the cooperative efforts of a group
of Singaporean and Thai parents who were keen to
invest in an institution to provide their children with
quality education that develops fluency in English,
Chinese and Thai. Motivated by their beliefs in the
merits of the Singapore-based curriculum, they
established SISB in 2001.
SISB provides a standardised curriculum underscored
by the twin principles of the Singapore education
system and consistently delivers high quality
education that many have come to trust of
SISB. Through a broad-based and unique multilingual
curriculum, SISB offers effective learning
environments, opportunities and challenges to foster
students as lifelong learners and future leaders. With
more than 1,000 students of over 20 nationalities,
and strong teaching and support staff hailing from
over 20 countries, the SISB community is inspired by
a global outlook and enriched by cultural diversity.
SISB upholds the reputation of the globally
renowned, excellent education system of Singapore
and holds the duty to contribute positively to the
development of education in Thailand.
With the rapid growth of its student population, SISB
identified the need to expand its campus facilities.
On 7 June 2012, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha
Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the Grand Opening
of SISB Pracha Uthit campus, a new campus spanning
17,000 square metres in Pracha Uthit. The campus
features SISB Preschool, well-equipped classrooms, a
library, science and computer laboratories, a multipurpose
hall, basketball court, swimming pool,
playgrounds and offers full-fledged curricula for
students from age 2 to 18.
SISB also launched the construction of a new
Secondary School Complex in Pracha Uthit. The
complex is a THB 600 million project, spanning
9.5-rai (built-up area 26,600 sqm), which is the
largest investment of the SISB Group to date. The
complex is an extension to the current SISB Pracha
Uthit campus and will house a dedicated Secondary
section which will cater for up to 800 more students,
a Sports Complex with extensive facilities including
a 25-metre swimming pool, a 450-seat Auditorium
and a Dormitory which can accommodate up to 400
students, with full completion expected by July 2016.
SISB has also inaugurated a new 1.25-rai SISB Building
in Pracha Uthit (built-up area 2,200 sqm) as part
of the first phase, which serves as the head office
for the SISB Group and also features a dedicated
compound for the Nursery 1 students of SISB Pracha
Uthit. The building includes a canteen, playground
and full-fledged classrooms, and serves as the venue
for SISB Academy and SISB Learning Centre, two new
programmes which SISB has recently launched.

We believe that students are unique individuals
endowed with special talents and have the desire to
succeed, and that every student is important, and
every parent a partner.
▪
SCHOOL VISION
To be a leading international school in Thailand,
known and respected for having the Singapore
and UK curricula as its foundation for teaching
and learning, and for ensuring a climate of
interculturalism, internationalism and student
wellbeing.
It is our duty to develop the full potential of all
students entrusted to us for their education.
We strive to ensure that all students grow
intellectually, physically, socially, morally and
culturally, to become responsible, achieving and
contributing members of the world.
▪
SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL
GOALS & OBJECTIVES
We believe that the spirit of these goals and
objectives will mould the values, attitudes and
actions of all stakeholders and will enable students
to confront and address the multiplicity of
problems and challenges which come from living
in an ever-changing and diverse world. We aim to
offer quality programmes:
● We provide a conducive and safe learning
environment that is intercultural, international,
multilingual and challenging for effective
learning and teaching.
● We aspire to having our students become
academically able, critical thinkers, life-long
learners and global citizens in a learning
environment which is intercultural, international
and multilingual in its outlook, and rigorous,
creative and nurturing in its approach.
● We nurture our students to attain a level of
competency in three languages, and to equip
them with information technology and life
skills necessary to successfully access tertiary
education in universities of their choice
throughout the world.
● We promote a healthy lifestyle through cocurricular
and extra-curricular activities.
● We ensure professional development for all our
staff, and commit to working with parents and
other stakeholders to build a strong and closeknit
community.
▪
SCHOOL PROGRAMME
SISB adopts the Singapore and UK curricula and
textbooks in our lesson delivery and learning.
The core subject areas are English, Mathematics,
Science, Chinese and Thai. The non-core subject
areas include Physical Education, Moral Education,
Art, Music, Health Education, Computer Study and
Social Studies. Student’s performance is monitored
through both formal and informal assessment
modes. 70% of the student’s performance is
through termly written examination while the
other 30% is through project work, community
involvement, classroom participation and work
attitude. Our Primary 6 students take the Singapore
IPSLE examination while the Year 11 students take
the Cambridge IGCSE examination and the students
in Year 12 and 13 take the AS/A Levels. We use our
customised phonics teaching method to give our
Nursery and Kindergarten students a head start
in the listening, speaking and reading skills. We
have a structured reading program from Nursery to
Secondary levels. Students from Primary to Year 11
classes are taught research, creative thinking and
problem solving skills. Field trips. students’ work
attachment and community involvements are part
of the life skills programme to prepare our students
for the ever-changing landscape.
▪
SCHOOL PROGRESSION
JOURNEY
SISB has transited the students’ performance from
quantity to quality outcome. We now aim to carve
out niches and special programmes with schools
both locally and overseas. We are also developing
our own staff training centre.
Board Chairman’s Message
Every year, it fills me with pride to see students gain new
knowledge and progress to the next stage of their education
journey. The development of our students has been, and
continues to be our priority.
As a school, it is our belief that we must constantly strive to
improve ourselves, so as to become a strong partner in the
growth of our students.
In line with this belief, Pracha Uthit campus will be refurbished
with facilities to help our students develop crucial skills.
We can look forward to more collaboration areas that will
encourage interaction between students, as well as the
generation of creativity.
Besides improvements to hardware, the best teaching talents will be sourced from around the world to
ensure that our students receive the best education possible.
We are also committed to our focus on innovation, and that is why we are improving and innovating the
curriculum that our schools use. The Sixth Form School at Pracha Uthit campus has applied to offer the
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). We look forward to offer the IBDP from August
next year.
Just as we take pride in educational excellence, we also aspire to cultivate a community that is
compassionate. We have continued with the Corporate Social Responsibility-English Language Project,
which provides English lessons to students from Praram 9 Kanchanapisek School, and We Give We Share,
a project to raise funds for underprivileged schools in the border cities of Thailand.
I would like to thank members of the SISB community for their unwavering support. Our future is an
exciting one and, as one big family, we will make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.
Yours sincerely,
Principal’s Message
In this fast-moving world, it is important as educators and
administrators of education that we keep up with the times
and trends of education. Today, education has taken a
different turn as we understood it decades ago. Learning is
a never-ending journey, therefore, what we need to do is to
equip our children to be able to become successful leaders in
their own right. Each student is an individual, a scholar who
should be given an opportunity to grow into healthy global
citizens and map their own education journey.
As an educator, I am glad to have the opportunity to be able
to learn and grow alongside my students and colleagues,
and to be able to improve and create new opportunities
for the students to progress in a healthy, happy and safe
environment.
My personal goal is to develop a culture that ensures educators and administrators guide students to
aspire to be balanced inquirers whose thinking is principled and knowledgeable, making them able
to take educated risks in a caring and open-minded environment, where we reflect and communicate
outcomes to build a culture of thinking in order to make necessary improvements and become lifelong
learners.
To be able to achieve the goal of a progressive community, we have to work together to be open-minded
and be solution based, where we reflect and communicate to become a supportive community working
towards becoming a world class school.
Yours sincerely,
Teacher’s Message
It has been a pleasure and privilege to see you all grow day by day and
see how you have developed in your learning. We have laughed, played,
learned and enriched our lives during the year. I’m thankful for the
children who worked so very hard with me to communicate with a sound,
picture, approximation, gesture, sign, eye gaze or word. I’m thankful
for the children, who never knew they had goals to meet, but worked
and persevered to achieve them anyway. I’m so thankful for the children
teaching me how to look at the world differently. Always remember all the
fun we had in all the things we did. Wishing you all the best in your future
endeavors. And lastly, to all the parents, thank you for the support and
dedication you have shown throughout the school year and most of all
thank you for sharing and entrusting your little ones to our care.
Teacher’s Message
It was once said that “while we try to teach our children all about life, our
children teach us what life is all about”. And after my year with N2 Love,
I can definitely say that I have learnt some valuable life lessons. Thank
you for teaching me how to use my imagination and see everything as
an adventure. Thank you for teaching me how to be curious and ask
questions about the world around me. Thank you for teaching me how to
be brave and try new things. Thank you for teaching me how to give my all
whether I’m singing, dancing, playing or working. Thank you for teaching
me how to be silly and laugh at the small things. Thank you for teaching
me to remember my “please” and “thank you”. Thank you for teaching me
how to help others. Thank you for teaching me how to love and accept
everyone just as they are. Thank you for not only helping me become a
better teacher, but also a better person. Good luck for the future - I know
you will continue to do great things!
Teacher’s Message
Primary 3, it has truly been a wonderful year of learning not only for you,
but for us teachers as well. Although the year seems to have passed
quickly, I have found time to reflect on how valuable the moments I have
spent with all of you has been to me.
I have encouraged you to explore new possibilities and always be willing
to expand your skills through new experiences. The same holds true for
all of us, no matter who we are or where we go: we should never limit our
challenges, but rather challenge our limits.
I wish all of you who are leaving us at the end of this academic year success
and fulfillment in next year’s endeavors, whatever they may be. Remember
to always hold your head up high and believe in yourself. If things should go
wrong, don’t go with them. For those staying at Ekkamai, I look forward
to spending another year with you, learning and growing together.
Mr. Daniel Schnare
Another school year has passed and you’re all moving up to the next level,
how time flies so fast! With more knowledge, great experiences, stronger
in mind, body and spirit, use these to overcome challenges coming your
way. I believe each and everyone of you to be excellent in every undertaking
you’ll take because you’re equipped with the necessary attitude to do it.
Little chefs
In-house Cooking
The N2 students loved getting messy
during their cooking class with “A Little
Something”. During this hands-on activity,
they had the opportunity to cut, mix,
scoop and squeeze. Not only did they
practice some valuable cooking skills, but
it was a wonderful way to explore their 5
senses which they had been learning about
in class - the students enjoyed touching,
smelling and later tasting their snacks.
After this experience, we definitely have
some chefs in the making!
Shopping at
Big C
The K1 field trip to Big C was a lot of fun. The
students are learning about communities in EE class.
They did a great job of learning about an important
place in our community “Big C”. Big C is a place in
our community that people go shopping for food
and other items. The students wrote a list of items
needed to make a ham and cheese sandwich and
used the list to go shopping. As the children walked
around the store, they talked about the items used
to make the particular food. Each of them was
responsible to buy one of the items needed to make
it. When the students got back, they made the
sandwiches and ate them. Yum!
At school they learnt that when we throw away our
trash, we can actually recycle paper, plastic, glass
and metal objects. In order to enrich their recycling
learning experience they headed off to PU for the
morning where they taught that old food (not only
paper, plastic, glass and metal) can be recycled into
compost and that this can then be mixed into soil
and used to plant flowers. Every student not only
had the opportunity to mix their own compost but
they could also plant a flower to take home. The
