The Finance Department manages water
and sewer utility billing, vehicle and
pet licensing, alarm permit registration,
accounts receivable and payable, financial
reporting and annual budget development
in addition to administering Village
employee benefits and pensions.

The Public Safety Department was
established in 1954 when the Village
combined the police and fire departments
into one single, cross-trained department.
Today, our officers are cross-trained as
certified police officers, firefighters and
medical first responders. This level of
efficiency allows the Village to provide
a high level of emergency services to
the community at a reduced cost when
compared to municipalities utilizing
traditional, separate police, fire and
emergency medical components.

The Public Works Department promotes a
safe and healthy environment in Glencoe
by managing the maintenance of the
Village’s infrastructure (roads, bridges,
water mains, sanitary and storm sewers,
etc.), administering building, zoning and
engineering services and operating the
Village’s Water Treatment Plant. In addition,
the Public Works Department oversees
garbage, recycling and yard waste
collection services, currently provided by
Lakeshore Recycling Systems.

The Village Manager’s Office is responsible
for providing overall direction and
administration of policies and programs
established by the Village President and
Board of Trustees, and coordinating
activities of the Village’s operating
departments, including development of
the annual budget and implementation
of the Village’s Strategic Plan. The
Village Manager’s Office includes the
Village’s human resources, legal, IT,
communications, business services
and Village Clerk functions, including
maintaining Village records and
responding to Freedom of Information Act
requests.
Online Services
The Village’s website empowers residents
to easily find useful information, learn
about current projects and make various
payments online. Pay for utility bills,
parking tickets and vehicle stickers
through the Payment Center, learn about
the goings-on in the Village via the
Village Manager’s Blog and generally
stay connected by subscribing to Village
eNews. For emergency alerts and time
sensitive service updates, residents are
encouraged to register their home phones,
cell phones and e-mail addresses with
Smart911, the Village’s new emergency
callout and safety profiles system. To
