THE AGENCY
Family Service of Glencoe (FSG) is a
nonprofit social service agency that
strengthens our community through highly
confidential services that prevent and treat
emotional and psychological problems.

MISSION
Rooted in Glencoe since 1914, FSG’s
experienced clinical team serves families and
individuals of all ages. Following a systems
approach, FSG treats the whole family to
effect positive change with the individual and
their surroundings. FSG offers counseling
services on a sliding-fee scale to ensure
access to therapy regardless of ability to pay
for all who live or work in Glencoe.
CURRENT PROGRAMS
• Counseling services for youth, adults,
couples, and families
• 24-hour crisis intervention provided in
partnership with Glencoe Public Safety
• Community education programs to engage
parents in relevant discussions in an effort
to raise emotionally healthy children
• Parent consultation services that are
short-term and solution-focused for
specific needs
• Senior assistance through annual grants,
well-being checks, discussion groups,
and case management
• Information and referral to our extensive
area resources
• Emergency financial assistance for those
in urgent need provided in cooperation
with local clergy
• Financial assistance screenings for
day care, Glencoe School District and
Glencoe Park District
FSG STAFF
FSG’s team of licensed clinical social
workers are experts in anxiety, depression,
grief, dementia, family and life transitions,
substance abuse, addiction, and
mindfulness.
Glencoe Youth Services (GYS),
founded in 1971, is a drop
in teen center providing
recreational activities and
social services opportunities for
6th-12th grade youth. Located
in the Holmes Warming House,
in between Central School and
Melvin Berlin Park, GYS is open
every day after school and
on Saturday during the day.
The youth center provides a
welcoming atmosphere where
youth relax, talk with friends,
and engage in their choice of
many recreational activities,
such as video games, crafts,
board games, movies, and
cooking. Our participants
also engage in social services
activities such as Operation
Gratitude, A Just Harvest,
and Cradles to Crayons. GYS
is active at the 4th of July
Festival, Harvest Fest, Movies
on the Green and hosts many
other community programs
throughout the year.
Several of our most active
participants volunteer on
our youth board. Youth
board members develop
leadership skills and learn
to work as a committee, as
they hold multiple meetings
a month, manage a budget,
conduct fundraisers, create
programming, and help with
social media marketing.

school student, GYS has
something for you. Whether
you seek recreation or
relaxation, a place to go with
friends or a place to make
new friends, there is one thing
for certain-you are always
welcome at GYS.
