Summer Magic in the Whittier Home Victorian Garden<br />

The Whittier Home is proud to offer historically<br />

appropriate and educational events that teach as well<br />

as delight. On July <strong>19</strong>th at 7:00 pm there will be<br />

an encore presentation of Christine Remus’s play,<br />

“Was Susannah Martin really a Witch?” Remus will<br />

portray Susannah Martin who was hanged for a witch<br />

on July <strong>19</strong>th in 1692. This event is free and open<br />

to the public and will be staged in the garden of the<br />

Whittier Home.<br />

The Whittier Home is open every Saturday from<br />

11:00 to 4:00 to take a tour of the Museum and<br />

learn about the North Shore’s most famous poet and<br />

abolitionist!<br />

On August 11th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm the<br />

Whittier Home will host the 21st Annual Tapestry<br />

of Voices Poetry reading in the garden. This event<br />

is beloved by many and features outstanding poets<br />

from the surrounding communities reading both<br />

works of Whittier and their own compositions.<br />

Chris Bryant, president of the Whittier Home says<br />

that this is her favorite event of the year! It is free<br />

and open to the public and refreshments will be<br />

served after the readings.<br />
