THE MBO STORY
Mountain Bike Oregon began with humble roots. The first event was held in 2005 and had
only 34 riders – that meant there were more guides than riders! But the riders from over 10
states had a blast, and went home and told all their friends. The MTBR website was flooded
with buzz about Mt. Bike Oregon and the news of this awesome new event spread like
wildfire.
In 2006, the event came into its own and sold out with 300 riders from 20 states. The event
has added a second weekend on years that we had a sell out crowd as we are committed to
always keeping our numbers small. Mountain Bike Oregon is special because of the community
that comes together to ride, and we want to preserve that awesome atmosphere. We
also believe it is important to respect the trails and keep our impact to a minimum.
The event has consistently been named in the Top 10 Mountain Bike Festivals in the country
and the trails in Oakridge are known as some of the best in the world.
MBO is like the best summer camp you can imagine! The best trails, the best brews, sunshine,
swimming in rivers, music, hanging out with your friends, beautiful stars at night, and
a highlight of your summer!
This event is a huge undertaking, especially as it is tucked remotely in the woods with
limited resources available. We couldn’t do it without the support of the communities of
Oakridge & Westfir. We’d like to send out a special thank you to the Disciples of Dirt for
guiding riders all weekend long, and for helping maintain the trails all year long. Thanks
also to our staff and volunteers who drive shuttles, check in riders and generally make this
incredible event tick.
In honor of our 15th Anniversary celebration, we are only having one amazing event this
summer! We hope you will make this event your annual tradition and we look forward to
seeing everyone this summer on the trails!
Sincerely,
Team MBO, the camp counselors of Mountain Bike Oregon
We’d like to send out a special thank you to the Disciples of Dirt, the GOAT’s,
& ATCA for for helping maintain the trails all year long. Their tireless efforts
make the Oakridge trails a world class riding destination. This year especially,
they poured in countless hours after the storms to get the trails back
in shape for us all to enjoy.
