The event, held at Dantinajo Gold Resort, Oleh, Isoko, was supposed to be the conferment ceremony of Engr. Dan Omoyibo as the patron of the Directors Guild of Nigeria,DGN. But it turned out to be a carnival of sorts as the natives and onlookers thronged the streets in their great numbers to catch a glimpse of their screen idols who were having a field day in the Isoko kingdom. Indeed, it was a moment of intense excitement for the people as the stars paid courtesy visits to some of the high profile traditional rulers in the region. However, one of the royal fathers who made the stars feel welcomed in Isoko nation was Odio- Ologbo of Oleh kingdom, HRM Anthony Williams Onovughe Ovrawah. He instantly honoured the incumbent president of DGN, Mr. Fred Amata, with a chieftaincy title, alongside veteran actress, Hilda Dokubo at his palace in Oleh as a way of expressing his excitement. The honor came, as members of the DGN stormed his palace, led by Engineer Daniel Omoyibo, who was later made patron of the Guild. In his acceptance speech, Fred , an actor and producer said: “I’m happy and grateful to God for this. I also thank the Odio- Ologbo of Oleh kingdom. It came as a surprise but I give God the glory. I can work hand in hand with its brand , then I can sign an endorsement deal with that organization.” Ogbonna also talked about being stereotyped in the movie industry at a time, noting that he had to break from it to showcase his strength in playing other roles. "Back then, I used to be stereotyped. But about two years now, I have played a lot of roles outside the box. I have played the role of a doctor, a reverend father, village man, local boy etc. At the last Africa Movie Viewers Choice Awards, AMVCA, I got a nomination for playing a local boy. In fact, most calls I get from producers presently is to play a local character. I am even trying to run away from playing the role. In Nollywood, when the producers discover that you enjoy playing a particular character, they try to put you in that box. I try to break myself out of being stereotyped.” Asked about the number of kisses he has had, while playing romantic roles in movies, he said, “I am a professional, and I am never drawn into the character. For me, I am thinking of delivering my character, how to make it believable. It's not about being paired with a woman. I enjoy being paired with the person that I genuinely like.” On the number of movies he has featured in so far, he said, “ I have lost count of them. In fact, I was trying to count the movies about two months ago. But I have forgotten most of them. But from the once I can remember, I have done over 150 movies.” Ogbonna described himself as a businessman adding that he loves the art of making money and bringing stories to life. “Most times, I throw my funds into producing movies, not just because I am trying to make money which is also very key. But I am passionate about stories and bringing those stories to life, “ he said. On how he handles his female admirers, Ogbonna revealed that he has always been a guy that gets attention from the opposite sex even before became famous. “All my life, even as a baby, I have those aunties I called my wives. It's something I am used to. As far as you don't come at me offensively, I appreciate everyone that appreciates me,” he enthused. Interestingly, the actor who is also known as the lover boy of the Nigerian movie industry said he is yet to discover himself. Asked who IK Ogbonna outside the movie set is, he replied: “Honestly speaking, I always tell people that I don't know myself. I wish I can sit down and say this is who IK Ogbonna is. Since I have known adulthood, my life has revolved around hustling. I have been constantly working, jumping one movie set to the other. And where I am not working, I am attending to other businesses. The introduction of the new housemates follows an announcement made by show host Ebuka, during Sunday’s eviction show, regarding a “twist” in the coming week. While we were still grappling with the first twist, Biggie sprung another one on Wednesday by introducing two more housemates. The new housemates’ entrance into the house brings the present number of housemates to 19 after eviction of 7 of the original 21 housemates The five new housemates are Venita, Elozonam, Enkay , Joe and Cindy who came in Thursday night. The four new housemates will now compete with the remaining contestants for the grand cumulative prize worth 60 million naira.
