In order to attain a high-quality<br />

management and implementation of the<br />

planned project activities, it was essential<br />

to make a fair distribution of tasks and<br />

responsibilities among six partner schools which will guarantee a<br />

balanced committment of all participating schools. To make the project<br />

structure clear and well-balanced, the project has been divided into six<br />

modules.<br />

Even though we couldn't understand the<br />

meaning of each paragraph or song, we were<br />

able to grasp the meaning and the emotions<br />

due to the way the person was reading. The<br />

melody of Greek and Italian language was<br />

very inspiring, as was the way David recited<br />

the song by Schiller. The polish language is<br />

very similar to croatian, so we could<br />

understand some words and concepts.<br />

Teachers from Italy, Croatia, Germany, Greece<br />

and Poland, sitting in a circle, listening to<br />

poems and pages of books ,read in original<br />

languages. All involved in a magic sound of<br />

telling the words and trying to catch the<br />

meanings without knowing the words. But the<br />

emotions were born and shared. Especially<br />

during the explanation of the meaning of the<br />

text connected to each country and culture.<br />

Moments full of emotions beyond the<br />

language differences.<br />

People's don't have anything to divide among them. It doesn't<br />

matter if you are Greek Croatian, German, Polish, or Italian above<br />

all we are humans beings who share the shame feelings and<br />

RELAXATION IN 7 STEPS<br />

· GET MOVING - warm up exercises to boost energy and to<br />

· PLAY - games to awaken creativity and the feeling of<br />

happiness<br />

· STRETCH – streching exercises to improve balance and<br />

posture and to restore inner strenght and self respect<br />

· FEEL – kids massage each other to develop awareness about<br />

themselves, empathy and respect for the others<br />

· BREATHE – breathing exercises to improve health, control<br />

anxiety and reach inner peace<br />

· TRUST – positive words and af rmations to improve self<br />

esteem and self respect<br />

· RELAX – visualization techniques for total relaxation and a<br />

feeling of serenity; developing creativity and imagination.<br />

This program is used in my class when I want to help my students<br />

overcome problems with self esteem, self respect, anxiety, sleeping<br />

problems, agressive behavior, problems with being focused in class.<br />

The program can be used at any moment of teaching. I don't need a<br />

large space because students can listen to my reading the<br />

meditation seated in their desks or on the oor, while the relaxing<br />

music is heard in the background or they can practice self massage<br />

and mutual massage techniques while listening to the music.<br />

Outcomes for the students:<br />

They will<br />

have learned new techniques which can help them in<br />

expressing feelings and emotions<br />

have had fun exercising<br />

learned basic methods of relaxation, such as breathing<br />

exercises, stretching, self and mutual massage techniques<br />

have improved their behavior by gaining self esteem<br />

have improved their school results.<br />

In accordance to the bene ts of the program, on our last day of<br />

school we went to the beach and had a relaxation and meditation<br />

workshop together, listening to the sounds of the sea - splashing<br />

waves, breeze and seagulls.<br />

MISSION OF THE PROGRAM<br />

The mission is to give the children the best we can, emotionally<br />

speaking; we don't need money and expensive things to show love<br />

and kindness for one another; all we need is a warm heart, teach<br />

the kids love and compassion for themselves and the world<br />

surrounding them. Let them grow into healthy and strong human<br />

beings able to cope with everyday life situations. Our mission is to<br />

teach them to be able to tell the difference between good or bad,<br />

respect themselves and the others and create a better world for all.<br />

Erasmus+ project Love Life: Module 2 - Love Yourself,<br />

Meditation by the Adriatic Sea<br />

Program "Relax Kids"<br />

„Relax Kids“ uses research-based mindful and relaxation<br />

techniques alongside values and positive psychology (positivity,<br />

strength-building, gratitude, resilience and compassion) to help<br />

support children’s emotional health and wellbeing.<br />

The program was founded by Marneta Viegas in 2001 in Great<br />

Britain, the link is: (www.relaxkids.com) and today it is applied in<br />

over half a million homes and schools all over the world. Marneta V.<br />

noticed that the kids' focus and concentration is in decline and has<br />

come to an idea to boost their ability to relax with the aid of a wellstructured<br />

program. After applying its methods and techniques at<br />

Sylvester School (Liverpool, UK), the expulsion rate has decreased<br />

signi cantly. OFSTED (Of ce for Standards in Education, Children’s<br />

Services and Skills) has rated the school as „extraordinary“ for its<br />

care for its students' emotional wellbeing. Relax Kids program also<br />

offers a wide range of material for relaxation – books and CDs to<br />

help students overcome stress, anxiety or anger, and at the same<br />

time, increase their self-esteem.<br />

Our primary teacher, Željka Čikeš, used the Relax Kids methods<br />

and techniques to help her students and Erasmus+ teachers to<br />

relax.<br />

Relaxation and breathing exercises in the<br />

National park of Brijuni, Croatia<br />

Second and third grade primary school students of our Subschool<br />

Kmeti took in June a one-day school trip to the national park<br />

located on Veli Brijun, one of the 13 beautiful islands of the Brijuni<br />

archipelago situated on the southern part of the biggest Croatian<br />

peninsula - Istria. After sightseeing, they took advantage of the<br />

pristine nature on the island and relaxed, following my<br />

instructions.<br />

I often use relaxation exercises and breathing techniques in my<br />

class and in the schoolyard to help my students relax. Today, these<br />

exercises were exceptionally special owing to the incredible beauty<br />

of Nature in the park and the sounds of silence and serenity<br />

surrounding us.<br />

My students love these outdoor activities because they connect<br />

them, help them increase their self-esteem and self- respect,<br />

which are crucial for their emotional and intellectual well being,<br />

memory, concentration and focus, and they also helps them<br />

overcome stress and nd inner peace.<br />

COLOR MIRRORS - a workshop with the color<br />

therapist<br />

On June 13 after our regular lessons, we had an interesting<br />

workshop „Color Mirrors“ for our Erasmus+ group of students led<br />

by the color therapist, Branka Ribarić, and organized by our<br />

primary teacher, Ms Sanja Ošaben. Miss Ribarić explained to the<br />

students the signi cance and in uence of colors in our lives.<br />

Colors are everywhere, they are on us and around us.<br />

Color therapy is an alternative therapy that uses colors and their<br />

frequencies to heal physical and emotional problems. Color<br />

therapy is also known as chromopathy, chromotherapy, or color<br />

healing.<br />

The therapist brought a set of colors to show to the students.<br />

Every color carries a different meaning. Each student has a chance<br />

to pick one color they liked most and the therapist explained to<br />

each students the meaning of the color they picked. She also<br />

invited the students to think positively about themselves and how<br />

to use their potensials in the best of ways. The workshop lasted an<br />

hour and according to positive reactions of our students, it was<br />

clear they liked it.<br />

PSYCHOLOGIST<br />

Module 2 focuses on learning methods and approaches to improve<br />

our wellbeing, develop a positive attitude towards life and learn<br />

how to cope with stress and life problems. In order to develop a<br />

positive way of thinking and a positive attitude towards life and the<br />

world that surrounds us, we have to learn to love ourselves rst<br />

and only then, we will love life and life will love us back. We have to<br />

learn how to control our emotions, how to become a winner in<br />

stressful life situations and try to think positively. As an<br />

introduction and preparation for our task in this Module:<br />

Meditation in Nature, we have used a variety of activities and<br />

workshops from the mindfulness therapy. Mindfulness is a type of<br />

meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what<br />

you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation<br />

or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods,<br />

guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind<br />

and help reduce stress.Spending too much time planning, problemsolving,<br />

daydreaming, or thinking negative or random thoughts can<br />

be draining. It can also make you more likely to experience stress,<br />

anxiety and symptoms of depression. Practicing mindfulness<br />

exercises can help you direct your attention away from this kind of<br />

thinking and engage with the world around you. Mindfulness<br />

therapy, also called mindfulness-based therapy, is a type of<br />

psychotherapy that uses the practice of mindfulness to promote<br />

good mental and physical health. Our school psychologist, Jelena<br />

Rukavina, held four workshops for the Erasmus+ group of students<br />

who met every Thursday 7th and 8th period to engage in Erasmus+<br />

„Love Life“ project. The rst workshop „A Positive Self Image“ took<br />

place on May 9 and was structured to focus on imagination and<br />

relaxation exercises, as well as exercises to improve self esteem<br />

and respect for the others. The second workshop „A Letter to my<br />

Future Self“ took place on 16 May. It was directed to raising<br />

awareness about self value and life goals that we have set and want<br />

to accomplish in the future. The third workshop „Me and the<br />

Others“ was held on May 23. It focuses on improving<br />

communication and cooperation among the students . All three<br />

workshops served as introduction to the fourth workshop the<br />

Croatian school was responsible for : Meditation with the Sounds<br />

of Nature which has been conceived according to the principles of<br />

mindfulness. Basically, the students are outdoors by the sea or in<br />

our school Mediterranean garden and sit comfortably in a circle.<br />

Mother with dead son<br />

The mother with a dead son is a Pieta sculpture by the artist Käthe<br />

Kollwitz.<br />

The sculpture was made in 1937/38 and is dedicated to Kollwitz'<br />

son Peter, who died in World War I.<br />

She follows on from her work, which was realized from 1914 to 1932,<br />

mourning the parents. A sculpture of Kollwitz' Pieta, four times<br />

enlarged by Harald Haacke, has been standing in Karl Friedrich<br />

Schinkel's New Guard since 1993 in the then newly established<br />

central memorial for the victims of war and tyranny.<br />

The original is in the Kollwitz Museum in Cologne.<br />

Kollwitz's Pieta deviates from classical Pieta representations in that<br />

the dead son does not rest on the knees of the mother, but rather<br />

lies on the ground cowering between her legs. He is surrounded by<br />

the gure of the mother and looks more like a child seeking


protection in his mother's womb.<br />

Kollwitz herself noted in her diary on the anniversary of the death<br />

of her son Peter, who died in 1914: "I am working on the little<br />

sculpture that has emerged from the plastic attempt to make the<br />

old man. It has now become something of a Pieta. The mother sits<br />

and has the dead son lying between her knees in her lap. It's not<br />

more pain, it's just respiting.'<br />

The announcement by the then Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl<br />

that the Pieta of Kollwitz should be elected for the memorial<br />

sparked a heated debate. Kohl has been accused by various<br />

quarters of the fact that a mother grieving for her son would not do<br />

justice to the victims of the Holocaust. Especially the Jewish<br />

victims of the Second World War would be excluded by this<br />

sculpture, since it only refers to the First World War.<br />

Prague Street<br />

The painting Prague Street depicts a section of a sidewalk in a busy<br />

district. Two males can be seen being placed on the pavement in<br />

front of a packed shop window. The main persons are framed by<br />

other passers-by, but these can only be seen in part. The two<br />

people are war veterans. In addition, you can see a small child<br />

facing the shop window in the background. Various items are<br />

prepared for display in the shop window. The range offered ranges<br />

from wigs to corsets to prostheses. The two veterans, however, are<br />

fundamentally different. The rst veteran, with his head directed to<br />

the viewer and placed in the middle of the picture, appears poor<br />

and weak. His two feet and left arm are made of simple wooden<br />

prostheses. His right, relatively large hand is open. His eye sockets<br />

are dark. There are no eyeballs to be seen. One can assume that the<br />

veteran is blind. Overall, the person is in a dark brown. The second<br />

person to be seen seems to be more active. It was placed in the<br />

middle at the bottom of the picture. The viewer can only recognize<br />

the pro le of the face, which looks purposefully to the left edge of<br />

the image. Like the rst veteran, the second veteran no longer has<br />

legs. A small car with wheels helps to remedy this disability. He<br />

uses his two healthy arms dynamically to make rapid progress with<br />

two sticks. His facial expression is rigid but determined. In contrast<br />

to the rst person, its appearance is well-groomed and neat. The<br />

veteran wears a dark blue blazer with a cross of merit on his chest,<br />

a dark green tie and a light brown melon on his head. His<br />

Schnauzer is well trimmed. He drives his car over a newspaper<br />

clipping or lea et lying on the ground. A succinct lettering can be<br />

seen in newspaper articles: "Jews out!". A little further to the right<br />

of the picture is also a newspaper clipping. This is the Social<br />

Democratic Party's list 1, with Mr Buck as the front-runner. [8] At<br />

the lower left edge of the picture, the viewer sees the muzzle and<br />

eyes of a dachshund looking up to the second veteran. As if it were<br />

the back of the dog, one can recognize the tail and the hind legs of<br />

a second dog at the lower right edge of the picture. It seems that<br />

the picture is more closed as a result. At the right edge of the<br />

picture you can still see the foot of a passing woman with black<br />

platform shoes. She also wears a salmon-coloured dress. Next to<br />

the dog at the left edge of the picture you can see a hand with a<br />

walking stick. Directly above the walking stick at the left edge of<br />

the picture, the right arm of a passer-by can be seen. Behind the<br />

rst veteran at the right edge of the picture is a little girl with<br />

blond shoulder-length hair, which is held together with a white<br />

bow. The girl draws barefoot with chalk on the wall of the shop. It's<br />

just the pro le of her face. A dark skeleton was placed over the<br />

whole picture. The skeleton takes place, so to speak, on a second<br />

image plane and extends in the middle from the left to the right<br />

edge of the image. [9]<br />

The presentation of the described situation is simpli ed and<br />

greatly alienated in an abstract way. The artist Dix uses geometric<br />

shapes in a poster and purposeful manner. Figuratively, the image<br />

is reduced to a two-dimensional plane. Prague Street is a genre<br />

image that shows everyday life in a larger western city. The<br />

German society around the year 1920 is taken up and processed in<br />

the work of art. The image section of the street scene is divided<br />

into three. On the one hand, the rst glance of the viewer is<br />

directed at the persons sitting in the foreground. Afterwards, one<br />

wanders onto the background, the shop windows and displays.<br />

Finally, one can see the integrated skeleton, which hovers over the<br />

whole group picture. The painting has the function to criticize the<br />

society of the time representatively and can thus be recognized as<br />

a socially critical source. The painting was intended to be<br />

enlightening and mobilizing. The artist Otto Dix also attracted<br />

great social attention at the time of the publication of the artwork.<br />

In principle, the social damage to the people, the treatment of the<br />

veterans and the resulting pro t of the economy were denounced.<br />

Why do we make a project with/for Madina ?<br />

We are of the opinion that her work is worth of being supported,<br />

her vision of a society in all countries with equal rights for men and<br />

women and the chance of getting freedom and self con dence by<br />

sports is something we absolutely agree. And as football is very<br />

popular for most kids in our school all are motivated to work in this<br />

project. And we are very happy that she is sharing her ideas,<br />

and I live in Kabul Afghanistan.I have<br />

started playing football from childhood,<br />

when I was in one of primary schools in<br />

Iran. I lived many years with my family as<br />

exercise. That makes it hard to build women's<br />

clubs and keep them alive. "I'm trying to bring<br />

more sports culture to my country so that<br />

girls can also play sports. If I'm not<br />

campaigning for it, who's doing it? , "asks<br />

Madina Azizi of Kabul. The 23-year-old is a<br />

former national player for Afghanistan. For<br />

this, however, it is not only celebrated, but<br />

also antagonised. Madina Azizi is backed by<br />

Khalida Popal, who was the rst captain of the<br />

Afghan women's national team in 2008.<br />

Meanwhile, Khalida Popal lives in Denmark<br />

professionalise the sport. Together, the two<br />

accompany Madina Azizi and her team in<br />

their dangerous everyday life as footballers in Kabul. And thus show the<br />

struggle of an entire generation of young women in traditional patriarchal<br />

Afghanistan for a little more self-determination.<br />
