DAY 4: Moscow – St Petersburg<br />

Start your day with a visit to the Kremlin, the<br />

symbol of Russia’s political power. A 14thcentury<br />

walled fort, the complex is dazzling<br />

and thought-provoking. Comfortable shoes<br />

are a must for this tour of the Armoury<br />

Museum and the diamond regalia. You will<br />

also see the five-domed Assumption Cathedral<br />

and Annunciation and Archangel churches.<br />

Take the high-speed train to St Petersburg<br />

where you will be met and driven to your<br />

hotel. Known as the Venice of the North for its<br />

network of canals, you can explore at leisure.<br />

DAY 5: St Petersburg<br />

The second largest museum in the world, the<br />

State Hermitage Museum was commissioned<br />

by Catherine the Great in 1764 as a court<br />

museum, adjoining the Winter Palace. This<br />

morning, you can view some of the huge<br />

collection which includes works by da Vinci,<br />

Rembrandt, Rubens, Picasso, Monet, and<br />

Matisse with your guide. Not to mention the<br />

ostentatious imperial rooms. Don’t miss the<br />

Ambassador’s Staircase, the Throne Room,<br />

and the Ballroom. After lunch, you will have<br />

the afternoon to explore this cultural city.<br />

DAY 6: St Petersburg<br />

This morning, Design your Day®<br />

Visit Peterhof Palace, the summer estate<br />

of Peter the Great, nestled on the shore of<br />

the Gulf of Finland. Your guide will lead<br />

the pièce de résistance; the splendid Grand<br />

Cascade of water.<br />

OPTION 2: Glimpse the hidden Hermitage<br />

Peek inside the Hermitage’s vaults with a<br />

rare opportunity to view antique frescoes,<br />

furniture, artworks, and a hall of carriages<br />

that have been hidden away.<br />

OPTION 3: Cruise the Venice of the North<br />

Experience St Petersburg in the manner Peter<br />
