We are all well aware now<br />
of the transformation that<br />
is beginning to take place in<br />
downtown Augusta and this<br />
very publication is a reflection<br />
of the renaissance that we are<br />
watching evolve!<br />
As we wait to hear what new<br />
projects are “on the drawing<br />
board” for downtown, we<br />
should pause and reflect what<br />
arguably was the catalyst for<br />
this resurgence: the commitment<br />
from Unisys to open its<br />
Enterprise Service Desk operation<br />
in the former Fort Discovery<br />
space.To better appreciate<br />
Unisys’ level of commitment,<br />
let’s roll the clock back to<br />
2014. At that time, U.S. Army<br />
Cyber had just announced<br />
Army Cyber Command would<br />
be relocating to Fort Gordon.<br />
However no one knew if any<br />
of that growth would spill into<br />
downtown.<br />
In the years leading up to<br />
2014, the city of Augusta<br />
invested substantial new capital<br />
into downtown, including<br />
a new judicial center, library,<br />
convention center and reno-<br />
