The pros and conns
of Silas Marner
As we move past the
summer, we are looking
towards a new season of
incredible entertainment
in Worthing.
WITH FANTASTIC LIVE THEATRE, music, comedy and so much
more, make sure you grab a copy of our new season brochure, which is
full of events at your fingertips!
To start off, we are very excited that the incredibly talented Worthingbased
Conn Artists Theatre Company are returning to the Connaught
Theatre from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 September with their new
adaptation of George Eliot’s Victorian classic Silas Marner.
This world premiere follows on from their hugely successful production
of The Four Men in 2017, an adaptation of writer Hilaire Belloc’s
account of his comical yet poignant adventures as he rambled across
the Sussex Downs. That show marked the company’s first ever regional
tour, while this new production sees them travel nationwide after the
opening in Worthing.
A timeless novel by one of the leading female writers of the Victorian
era, Silas Marner is the heart-warming story of a poor weaver,
wrongfully outcast from society and forced to take in a young orphan.
Their mutual friendship leads to joy, love and his redemption.
As the associate theatre company at the Connaught Theatre, the
not-for-profit Conn Artists Theatre Company aims to produce high
quality theatre that is vital and illuminating for the local community
and beyond. They champion quality live drama in Worthing, providing
opportunities for local artists to perform and productions to inspire
students and young people with an interest in theatre in the local area.
Come along and support this talented local professional theatre
company in what promises to be an enthralling experience.
Silas Marner is produced in association with Worthing Theatres and The
George Eliot Fellowship. Tickets are available from worthingtheatres.
