YOU CAN FEEL THE HEAT RISING from the surface riffs that
hem you in from the very first intro track. Like walls of fire, it is a
claustrophobic, righteous, meticulously crafted album that takes
you, blindfolds you, then bundles you into the boot of a car –
and you're happy to go.
Rapture is the penultimate track and by the time you get there
you feel it coming on. As lead singer Django Black sings, 'Our
flesh is edible, the truth is we're animals.' You have let the earth
rise around you; you have let yourself sink into the earth as the
skeletal tendrils of the music curl over you. Take them in. It's all
important. This is important.
