What an absolute delight it is for me to extend a warm welcome to everyone at
Shifnal Town for our first home Premier Division game in more than 6 years.
Under the joint management team of Dan Carter and Andrew Carrier Shifnal
got off to a great start last Saturday and are expected to do extremely well this
season. Their players and officials are most welcome to join us for our award
winning half time and post match hospitality.
Well, since our last home league game in March an awful lot has happened. Of
course the biggest thing to happen was our promotion and I thank and
congratulate Andy, his management team and players for the enjoyment they
gave to us all and for their magnificent season.
The promotion kicked in our Football Foundation grant of £51,000 towards our
floodlights. We still have to contribute £23,000 to the total cost of approx.
£75,000. This was planned and budgeted for and the club funds have been in
place for some time. As you can see work on the floodlights has started and all
of the civil and ground works have been completed. Including the installation of
the pads for the floodlight pylons, and all of the electrical cable has been laid in
underground conduits ready for connection.
We expect the pylons and lamps to be erected within the next 2 weeks. We are
then in the hands of Western Power and Npower to connect the supply before
the big switch on. However all is on schedule to meet the FA and League
deadline of 30 September 2019. We are looking to get some prestigious
opponents for the formal opening and as soon as we know anymore
we will let you know.
