Today we extend a warm Paycare Ground welcome to the players,
supporters and officials of Wem Town. Win lose or draw the players and
officials will be most welcome to join us for our award winning hospitality.
You may have noticed a pretty significant change at the Ground since our
game against Shifnal just two weeks ago today. Yes- I am delighted to
confirm that the work on the floodlights is now complete. I must
congratulate the contractors Sports Ground Development Ltd and
Advanced Electrical Ltd who worked tremendously hard through heavy rain
and winds to get the job done. Garry and I stood at the Darlaston Ladies
game last Sunday in glorious sunshine admiring the fantastic facility The
Paycare Ground has become. We were both tremendously proud of all of
the committee, players, management, supporters and sponsors who have
been part of our journey. Unbelievably it is less than 5 years since we took
on the running of The Pavilion which was run down and was open grass
land when we took it on. Our progress has been brilliant and we are all
pinching ourselves at what we have achieved.
Well if we didnʼt know it before we now know just how good and tough the
Premier Division is and how big a step up it is from Division One. After a
fabulous opening day outing to Pershore Town where we fully deserved an
excellent point we were brought down to earth by Shifnal Town. Last
Saturday at Smethwick Rangers we were not at our best but managed a
decent draw.
