PAGE 14—SUNDAY VANGUARD, OCTOBER 13, 2019
On Friday, October 4,
2019 Transcorp
Hilton Hotel, Abuja
was agog for the
premiere of the movie ‘The
Enemy I know’ produced by
Rita Daniels, mother of teen
actress and wife of Ned Nwoko,
Regina Daniels with many
Nollywood veterans and
wannabes in attendance. While
Regina, the beautiful, young
actress is the star of the movie as
the leading act, it was the
producer and the mother that
stole the show at the premiere.
She was simply mesmerizing
and captivating when she
made her appearance at the
premiere. She breezed in late
when everyone was seated and
almost worn out from waiting,
not only for the show to begin
in earnest but to see the movie
which has Ninolowo Bolanle
and Regina Daniels as
principal leads. The graceful,
flamboyant and refreshingly
comforting Rita Daniels was all
that was needed to bring in a
spark of life and when she
BBNaija: Why I
didn’t have sex
with Mercy in
Big Brother
House – Ike
Big Brother Naija
Housemate of the ‘Pepper
Dem Gang’, Ike Onyema, who
was the love interest of the
season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has
opened up on why they never
took their romance in the House
beyond mere cuddling and
smooching like Gedoni and
Khafi did.
In a chat with Potpourri, he
said it would have happened
between him and Mercy but
because Mercy didn’t push
enough to get him going, so, he
didn’t take the plunge.
“I’m not used to making the
first move when it comes to
getting down with a woman. You
know, I’m a fine boy and I’m
used to women pushing me to do
things but Mercy isn’t that kind
of person and we were not even
ready to do that kind of stuff in
the Big Brother House. I would
probably have had sex with her
if she had made the move but
she didn’t and I didn’t too,” he
said
Throughout his stay in the
House it was all about him and
Mercy. At some point it appeared
Mercy was making
moves to seduce him, with Ike
either not catching the drift or
was simply ignoring her,
especially at the Saturday
parties with Mercy always
sensuously, provocatively
dressed.
“Don’t mind her, she was
always teasing me. It was just a
trap. We had fun but that type of
fun when it gets too hot leads to
something else, if you
understand what I mean,” he
reacted
Going forward, Ike admitted
the love affair between him and
Mercy was real and still real just
as Mercy herself admitted at the
press conference for the
presentation of her prize.
“Yes it was real. The love is
What Regina Daniels
needs to learn from
her mother
indeed breezed in, in her
flowing, black, gold-serrated
dress, it was unmistakeable the
scent of intoxicating aura that
enveloped the hall.
As spontaneously as anything
could allow in nature, the
cameras went into war with
explosive vigour, lighting up
the night and the lady of the
night was in the middle of it
all, wallowing in the bliss of the
glitzy night made all the more
daunting by her presence. All
heads turned in her direction,
even the music stopped to
allow the moment right of place
and for the moment Rita
Daniels was making her
real. We are just taking things slow for now.
We are still together, we are trying to see
what’s going to happen because this new
lifestyle is new •Ike to me Onyema and also new to her.
Because of the money she won, we have to be
very careful with each other,” he said.
On the question of the money Mercy won
(N30 million in cash, N25 million Innoson
SUV and 5 million add-ons) Ike says he
doesn’t feel threatened at all.
“Who says she’s richer than me. Well, I know
she is richer than me but I don’t think it will
affect our relationship because I knew how to
handle her in the House, so I think I will be
able to handle her outside the House,” he
added.
On Friday, October 4, 2019, an
ensemble of some of Nigeria’s biggest
entertainers, thronged Terra Kulture, Victoria
Island to witness one of the biggest Broadway
musical nights for Jungle Story 2.
The show, a sequel to a widely enjoyed
debut in 2018, was produced by Naija Ninja
Productions and supported by the MTN
Foundation as part of its Arts and Culture
Initiative which has sponsored some of
Nigeria’s most compelling art, poetry,
musicals and theatre productions, including
Saroo, Wakaa, Fela and the Kalakuta
Queens and Legends, to name a few.
entrance everything stood
still for her. It was her show
and no one would steal it
from her.
Many had actually come
to see Regina, her daughter
but it was the mother who
had everyone eating out of
her palms in style and
pomp. And when Regina
made her entrance the
audience had been held
entranced by the magic and
charm of the mother, she
was the conductor of the
orchestra of which her
daughter was only a
component in the
symphony.
Inspiration for my single ‘Uber
Anthem’ came from driving for
Uber – Omega X D
Budding
Nigerian
singer, Cosmas
Nwabueze, popularly
known as Omega X D, has
got the tempo of the music
community on a string with
the release of his trending
single ‘Uber Anthem’ which
he said he did for the ridesharing
company because of
his love for the brand. As a
Uber driver himself, Omega
XD shared his romance and
love for Uber in an interview
with Potpourri, saying the
company gave him a source
of livelihood and an
inspiration for a song which
has enjoyed relative success on the music scene.
“I started driving Uber car in 2015 and for
me, supporting myself under Uber is a blessing.
I saw the platform as a very big opportunity for
me to launch myself out there because by
driving an Uber car I get to meet different types
of people every day. The inspiration for the song
came to me one morning as I took a lady to the
international airport and on my way coming back
I just started singing in my car, I was like “Uber
driver uptown Miami downtown Chicago holla
at your boy” and that was how I was singing in
my car after the trip. It was a successful trip
though and I enjoyed my trip. So I found myself
singing in my car and before I knew it, I pulled
over somewhere and started recording the song
on my phone. That was how the inspiration of
‘Uber Anthem’ came. So, me knowing all the
hospitality of Uber, like from the starting of a
trip, picking up a rider and taking them to their
destinations. If you listen to the song very well
that is basically what the song is talking about
because I was able to capture all the moment
•Rita Daniels,
Regina Daniels'
mother
that happen on a trip and put them all into the
‘Uber Anthem” he said.
On why he chose to write a song on Uber and
not any other ride-sharing outfit, the budding
music star who has 13 singles to his credit said
he has an attachment to the company and
cannot compromise on his love for it.
“I love Uber as a brand. In my first year of
driving under the company, I got selected as
one of the top 10 drivers because my rating
was very high. I don’t leave my car unwashed
even when it rains I still wash my car, you will
hardly see my car dirty, it’s extremely neat so
when people come they express their
admiration for the cleanliness of my car, even
during rains. I built up myself to deliver a quality
service and this is how far I have gone and I
ended up being recognized as one of their top
10 in Nigeria and also became an Uber hero
ambassador in Nigeria,” he quipped.
Omega XD started music in 2008 and has
since released 13 singles.
issues in the country. The story talks about
some of the issues our country is dealing
with creatively and imaginatively. Many
Nigerians are going through so much on
a daily basis that it is hard sometimes to
take a step back and look at the bigger
picture.”
Femi Kuti added, “Jungle Story 2 is an
attempt by a host of us in the
entertainment industry to remind
everyone of what we really look like as a
people, 59 years after winning our
freedom.”
