THE “DARK destroyer” will
visit Christchurch.
The Chase star Shaun Wallace
Wallace will be involved in the
He agreed to attend the
Diabetes Christchurch event
for free after
organiser
Lynne Taylor
approached
him at his book
launch earlier
this year in
February.
Six chosen
charities will be
involved in the
quiz and each will be provided
a celebrity who will represent
them. The other celebrities will
include former mayor Sir Bob
Mrs Taylor said more
celebrities would be confirmed
The proceeds made from
Wallace is a fan favourite on
Police allege the 35-year-old
walked into the liquor store
about 8.45pm and wandered
around before carrying a bottle
of whiskey to the counter and
presenting a knife.
But he was met by a bold
staff member, who reportedly
I was the first black person to
apply for the show in its 20-
year history. That’s what really
catapulted me to fame,” he said.
Wallace is currently a member
of three quiz teams.
“I quiz four nights a week.”
He also practices everyday so
you can expect to find him in top
uncertain terms.
“This is a robbery,” the
alleged offender said.
The staff member behind
the counter replied “f**k off”
said.
He is next due to appear
Patient in ‘serious
condition’ after stabbing
A woman received serious
injuries after a stabbing in St
Martins yesterday. Police were
still “working to locate” the
offender involved late yesterday.
Three houses on Wilsons Rd and
the footpath were taped off and
a police scene guard was on site
after the incident on Gamblins
Rd about 11.30am near the New
World supermarket. St John
spokesman Gerard Campbell
said a patient was taken to
Christchurch Hospital in serious
condition.
Missing Bishopdale
boy found
A missing 14-year-old boy who
police had “concerns’ for is
home safe. Police appealed for
information about the Bishopdale
boy who had been missing since
October 8. He was located safe on
Tuesday.
No closer to finding
Gordon’s toilet thief
Gordon Proctor is no closer to
finding the man who stole his
phone after he fell over in a New
Brighton public toilet in August.
The Star was flooded with offers
of support for Mr Proctor after
our story about the theft. No
arrest has been made over the
incident on August 31. A police
spokeswoman said enquiries are
ongoing and police “weren’t in a
position to elaborate” on whether
CCTV footage outside the toilet
block on Shaw Ave had been
reviewed.
Weeks until Hagley
Hospital open day
It may be weeks before a new
date is set for the Christchurch
Hospital Hagley building
open day. A blessing and open
day for staff and public at the
building was planned at the end
of last month. However, it was
postponed when it was found
further checks would be needed
on a small bunch of brackets
supporting panels directly above
the main entrance. A Ministry
of Health spokeswoman said
the issue was still being worked
through.
