New solo show called “Dreaming Between the Lines” May 1-30 at<br />

Woolworth Walk<br />

For May local artist Fian Arroyo<br />

will be featured in the F.W. Gallery at<br />

Woolworth Walk in a solo show called<br />

“Dreaming Between the Lines.”<br />

Fian Arroyo, an accomplished<br />

award-winning illustrator, presents new<br />

watercolor, ink as well as some digital<br />

works focusing on his original mystical<br />

creatures. His works feature exquisite<br />

depth and unbelievably refined detail-<br />

“Idalia”<br />

paper’s surface. He evokes a<br />

whimsical escape into a lush,<br />

fun, fantasy and pops surreal environments<br />

full of monsters, wanderlust,<br />

and confident humans.<br />

Fian has been creating illustrations<br />

and character designs<br />

for his clients, including many<br />

Fortune-500 companies, in the<br />

advertising, editorial, toy & game,<br />

at first began as something to do until he found<br />

out what he wanted to be when he grew up has<br />

blossomed into a full-time detour from getting a<br />

“real job.” Throughout his career, he has had the<br />

pleasure of working with companies such as U.S.<br />

News And World Report, ABC Television, KFC,<br />

Taco Bell, The Los Angeles Times, SC Johnson,<br />

Scholastic and many more.<br />

Among the awards he has won, his work has<br />

been recognized by award books such as The<br />

Society of Illustrators of New York, The Society<br />

of Illustrators of Los Angeles, Spectrum The<br />

Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art and Infected<br />

Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Fian<br />

grew up traveling the world as a U.S. Army brat<br />

living in countries such as Japan, Panama and<br />

a handful of states. He graduated from Texas<br />

State University in 1986 with a BFA in Commercial<br />

Art then moved to Miami, Florida where he<br />

began his freelance illustration career. In 2009 he<br />

relocated from Miami Beach to the breathtaking<br />

mountains of Asheville, North Carolina where he<br />

continued working with his commercial clientele<br />

and, more importantly, began creating artwork<br />

for himself. This new journey brought him back<br />

full circle to where it all started for him…fantasy<br />

and pop surreal art. He currently resides in<br />

Weaverville, North Carolina where he is being<br />

held hostage by his wife, two kids, and a mortgage.<br />
