MOOL volunteer, Stuart Hall, has
been working with Anglo/French
charity ‘Care4Calais’ distributing
MOOL SNUG Packs and essentials like
tents, thermals, trousers, jumpers,
boots and waterproofs.
He returned from Calais in February
and says, “The police there are
routinely destroying tents, sleeping
bags and warm clothes. The donations
that people give are making a real
difference to voiceless people who
are being victimised through policies
designed to cause suffering.”
He is referring to a harassment policy
which Calais officials deny exists.
Human Rights Watch and volunteers
on the ground are reporting routine
use of pepper spray on children, adults
and their food and water supplies by
the French riot police (CRS).
MOOL is also collecting stories from
people who have moved to Dumfries
and Galloway from other parts of
the world. These stories will form
part of an exciting project, ‘Moving
Stories’, an audio/visual performance
and choral piece, designed to help
highlight the positive impact of
migration.
By working with local organisations
too, MOOL is helping people living
in utter poverty here in Dumfries and
Galloway; providing donations like
carpets, furniture, lamps and pictures.
