Vivian Lord: Army

Vivian is six years old. The family was
on holiday and Vivian won tickets in
the arcade. Those were used to get a
set of toy army soldiers figurines. Lo
and behold, Vivian had a great time
(apparently) but noticed something
odd: Those were all male figures.
She wanted the family to google
it (so she knows google!) and they
found no female soldier figurines.
So, a letter was composed to several
toy makers. BMC responded. Apparently,
they had been ‘toying’ with the
idea of female soldiers but not sure
how the market would react.
… and there is Vivian’s letter. Confirming
exactly their thoughts. The
figurines will be available in 2020 for
Christmas
We could perhaps find other stories,
but it confirms Chang’s findings: Kids
have access and they can think and
act!
