SKF TURNS UP THE HEAT WITH
A PORTABLE BEARING HEATING
SOLUTION
COMPACT / REMOTE MAGNETIC
INDUCTIVE FLOWMETER IN STAINLESS
STEEL
The new portable induction heater TWIM 15 from SKF uses
medium-frequency technology to heat up roller bearings
as well as other ring-shaped, metallic components.
This innovative device heats the bearing mounted with
an interference-fit onto a shaft, generating up to a 90°C
temperature difference between the bearing and shaft, causing
the bearing to expand. This solution eliminates the need to use
force, thereby facilitating the installation process.
Featuring two power settings, the electric TWIM 15 can heat
sensitive components at a slower pace. In addition, a nonbearing
power configuration is possible where most of the
power is focused on the bore of the component.
The TWIM 15 is manufactured from glass-fiber, high
temperature-resistant plastic. This smart construction combined
with operating software produces a low temperature difference
between the bearing’s inner and outer rings. This reduces
internal tensions generated by excessive thermal expansion of
the inner ring compared to the outer ring.
This robust construction material, together with the mediumfrequency
technology, makes the heater lightweight and noisefree;
heat readings are conveniently displayed on a LED control
panel. This user-friendly control panel also indicates when the
TWIM 15 is operational, regulates temperature and does not
requiring any special training.
The flat shape of the induction plate removes the need for a
support yoke which allows for a variety of components to be
heated on the plate. Furthermore, this versatile design reduces
the number of required accessories.
Recently introduced to the Sub-Saharan African market, the
TWIM 15 from SKF is easy to transport and store thanks to the
practical built-in handle.
INSTROTECH is pleased to announce a new product development
in Kobold’s MIM Magnetic Inductive Flowmeter. MIM now features
IO-Link, a short distance, bi-directional, digital, point-to-point, wired,
industrial communications networking standard used for connecting
digital sensors and actuators to either a type of industrial fieldbus
or a type of industrial Ethernet, a world-first in magnetic inductive
flowmeters. MIM is now also available in a remote version for medium
temperatures of up to +140°C.
The MIM flowmeter was developed for measuring and monitoring
smaller- and medium-sized flow of conductive liquids in pipes and
operates according to the electromagnetic measurement principle.
Faraday’s Law of magnetic induction states that a voltage is induced
in a conductor moving through a magnetic field. The electrically
conductive measuring agent acts as the moved conductor. The
voltage induced in the measuring agent is proportional to the flow
velocity and is therefore a value for the volumetric flow. The flowing
media must have a minimum conductivity. The induced voltage is
picked up by two sensing electrodes which are in contact with the
measuring agent and sent to the measuring amplifier.
The flow rate is calculated based on the cross sectional area of the
pipe. The measurement does not depend on the process liquid and
its material properties such as density, viscosity and temperature.
Two given outputs can be set to be switch, analogue or frequency. A
dosing function can also be selected, where output 1 is set as switch
NPN / PNP / PP and output 2 is set as control input.
Overview of MIM’s significant characteristics:
• Stainless steel design
• Flow and temperature measurement
• Monitoring, dosing and transmitter function
• Dosing function with external control input
• Coloured, multi-parameter configurable TFT-display, rotatable in
90° steps
• Bi-directional measuring
• Intuitive setup menu via 4 optical touch keys
• 2 configurable outputs (pulse- /frequency-/alarm- and analogue
output)
• Grand and resettable totaliser
