with rustic and glamorous elements
mingling for a dramatic effect. To
heighten the intrigue, designer Katie
Linich of Creative Environments by
Carol & Katie used jewel tones alongside
natural elements like wide-plank
flooring and Indiana limestone.
Cape Verde, from Sherwin-Williams,
“is a beautiful, rich emerald color that
is used to pick up the color from the
living plants scattered throughout the
house,” Linich says, adding that the
shade looks gorgeous alongside brass
and polished nickel.
Bosporus is “a beautiful sapphire
color that plays nicely with Cape
Verde,” she says. Look for it in surprising
places, like a bathroom ceiling
and on closet doors.

EYES ON THE ARCHITECTURE
“Southern living with farmhouse
touches” is the way Jill Koch and
Julia Bender of Designs on Madison
describe The Ashby Manor by
Wieland Builders. To keep the focus
on the home’s charming architectural
details—like rustic ceiling beams and
a stone wall in the great room—they
opted for a neutral color scheme,
using Anew Gray in the main living
area. “It’s a soft color that pulls gray
and beige, letting the beams ‘sing’ in
the space,” Koch explains.
