44 students were awarded a

Varsity Letter for Community

Service for the 2017-18 school

year. This award is given to

any student who completes

40 hours of community

service for at least 6 different

organizations in one school

year. These students are to be

commended for their dedication to giving back to their

communities and the less fortunate. Twelve seniors

also received letters for the 2018-19 year.

The academic team won 1st place in District competition

and 7th place in Quick Recall at Regionals. Students

receiving subject level awards included: Elijah Deters,

Lucien Deters, Jacob F., Harrison Farrar, Trenton

Martin, and Jim Scola.

Evan Moon (Class of 2019) was accepted into the

University of Louisville GEMS program. (Guaranteed

Entrance to Med School.) Only 10 students in the state

were chosen.

Tuck Everlasting and Twelve

Angry Men were this spring’s very

successful drama productions.

Mr. Haders, Covington Catholic Art Teacher, and

his student, Kevin Finke (Class of 2019), recently

presented this wonderful work of art to Mr. Bill

Snyder for his retirement gift. Mr. Snyder served in

the US Navy from 1966-1970 and served on the USS

Dace SSN607 in 1968. He boarded her in Holly Loch

Scotland and was absolutely “scared to death” for a

brief tour of the North Sea and Artic Sea. He does

take credit for keeping all Russian Submarines out of

Northern Kentucky. Mr. Snyder retired from teaching

in 2018 after 17 years at Covington Catholic.
