GSC

ALUMNAE

2019: A YEAR

IN REVIEW

This past year, the Girl Scouts of Citrus

Alumnae (GSC Alumnae) hosted a

variety of events with something

for everyone. In March, several GSC

Alumnae, along with family and friends,

sailed on the Rivership Barbara-Lee and

cruised along the St. Johns River. The

group also took part in the “Scouting

in America Exhibit” at the Lake Mary

Museum.

In May, the GSC Almunae had a special

event “Celebrating Women’s Fashion,

Bringing History to Life”, presented by

Leigh Anne Brown. Through Brown’s

wedding dress collection and personal

accounts, the audience was taken on a

journey through time, and learned how

women became empowered and free

to live their own lives throughout the

decades.

In July, the GSC Alumnae stepped into

the world of comedy, mystery and

intrigue at Sleuths Mystery Dinner Show.

Bunco was the “The Game of the Year”

and “Sweet Memories” were made at

Farris & Foster Chocolate workshop.

In November, 70 Alumnae members

enjoyed workshops, fun-filled activities

and fellowship at the Alumnae Weekend

Retreat at Mah-Kah-Wee.

PLAY HARD. WORK HARD.

Those were just a few of the fun

entertainment events the GSC

Alumnae took part in. However, the

GSA Alumnae also participated in a

range of service projects throughout

the year. These activities included a

weekly work-day at Riverpoint working

on a different project each week,

painting the yard fence at Pine Castle

Scout House, the “Flags In” at Cape

Canaveral Cemetery for Memorial Day,

labeling 12,000 candy canes for troops

to give out during Holiday Parades.

Some members helped Citrus Council

with completing Fall Product and

Cookie paperwork, prepping PR cookie

bags and baskets, and the occasional

task at Council Center.

TRAVEL AWAITS

In 2020, adventure awaits the GSC

Alumnae with a range of travel

destinations. In March a trip to

Cherokee, North Carolina to work with

the children on the Indian reservation.

A trip to Europe is scheduled for June

2021, but participants need to register

now to secure their spot and attend

planning meetings throughout 2020.

Plans are being finalized for a 3rd

Alumnae Cruise and the dates will be

posted on the GSC Alumnae website.

Our membership continues to grow
