One of the most beautiful regions of Slovakia
and the Spiš region. This unique piece of nature
has been given its name for its precious nature
values and beauties. It consists of preserved karst
plains, deeply cut river canyons, cloughs and gorges
with magical waterfalls, extensive underground world
of caves and abysses and abundantly represented
fauna and flora. Tourists have over 300 km of marked
trails and ferrata trails. Cyclists may enjoy up to 150 km
of marked cycling trails and a true paradise will be
discovered by skiers, cross-country skiers, as well as
by rock climbers and during the winter by ice climbers.
DOBŠINSKÁ ICE CAVE
Dobšinská Ice Cave is one of the largest nature
unique and beauty sites of Slovakia. It is one
of the largest accessible ice caves in the world,
further reinforced by its location outside the Alpine
region. Since 2000, it has been listed in the UNESCO
World Heritage List. Dobšinská Ice Cave is also
known for its long history, which corresponds
to the great public interest in this unique cave since
its discovery. It is one of the first electrically lit
caves in the world, and as early as in 1878 a cultured
mountain park was established on the access road
to the cave.
