EXCEPTIONAL TRINITY
OF THE EAST
The east is not “exit”* but rather a gateway to the most beautiful trips
and knowledge. Enjoy the metropolis of east Slovakia, the smallest
wine-growing region and, last but not least, our magnificent mountains -
the Tatras. Discover places that are no longer just Slovak destinations.
*(an untranslatable pun, the former noun having an alternative meaning of “exit” in Slovak, the translator‘s note)

KOŠICE
A unique Central European metropolis and the second
largest city in Slovakia, Košice is also the scene
of the oldest marathon race in Europe and the second
oldest one in the world. You will find the longest
pedestrian zone in Slovakia or the easternmost Gothic
cathedral in Europe, which is also the largest church
in Slovakia - St. Elizabeth Cathedral. A popular stop
is also in the Eastern Slovak Museum, where you
will discover the Košice Gold Treasure. Perfect view
of the whole city will be offered from the Lookout
Tower near the largest ZOO in Slovakia. Romantic
streets and unique summer atmosphere of restaurants
in the historic centre will make you see that
Košice is indeed one of the European capitals.
TOKAJ
Tokaj is primarily the birthplace of the royal liquor,
but it hides a lot of the unknown. This unique site
of Slovakia is opened-up not just by historical tufa
cellars, barrels full of wine, picturesque villages
with long history, in which the secrets of the past
reveal cultural and historical monuments, but also
by its hard and conscientious work, growers, wine
producers, and locals. Fairytale walks through
the vineyards and the surrounding countryside,
traditional homemade food and pleasant rural
accommodation will enchant anyone who visits
this unique part of Slovakia.
TATRA NATIONAL PARK
This pride of Slovakia offers spectacular views
of one of the most beautiful mountain ranges
in Central Europe often called the “Little Alps”.
It is a year-round destination, which will benefit
both summer tourists and skiers. The most
popular and visited tourist centres are Tatranská
Lomnica, Starý Smokovec, and Štrbské Pleso.
The well-known travel guide Lonely Planet has
declared Tatras as the most important summer
destination of Europe in 2019. The High Tatras are
a paradise for adventurers. They offer waterfalls,
alpine meadows, and over 100 ultramarine lakes.
