Children activities
in the region
Even though the Hahnenkamm is my
local mountain, I still head over to the
Kitzbüheler Horn every once in a while.
The kids Klettersteig and the Kletterwiese
are especially good places to follow
my passion for climbing. If I still have
some strength left, I usually visit the Karst
weg Trail. This is an awesome place to
learn more about the history of the earth
long before even the dinosaurs roamed.
Back down in the valley, I like to visit my
friends in the Wildpark Aurach Wildlife
Park. In addition to local colleagues like
deer, goat or ibex, there are also some exotic
new friends to meet here as well.
Oh and did I mention the Sintersbach waterfall
with the legendary Drachensteig
trail yet? This is one of my favourite places
because if you listen carefully, sometimes
you can even hear the roar of dragons!
Another can’t miss highlight
is the Gieringer Weiher
pond at sunset. This is a
good place to look for fireflies
in summertime.

Brückenschuss is the
narrowest section of
the entire downhill
race?
Brückenschuss
The Brückenschuss demands fast skis and
good physical condition in order to hold a
constant speed. Tucking down low into a
squat is key.
There’s hardly time to catch my breath. The next station is just around
the corner: this is the notorious Brückenschuss section. This is no
place to lose your concentration as you approach the narrow
suspension bridge. It’s best to stay relaxed. Admittedly, I am a bit
afraid but skiing stars have to be brave so I venture onto the bridge.
Gosh, you sure do need good balance here, not unlike the coordination
demanded of skiers at the Brückenschuss. „Just don‘t look down,“ I
repeat to myself as I glide elegantly across just like a real ski racer.
Even as the bridge begins to wobble, I keep my balance and make it to
the other side! It’s not easy being a skiing star in summer!
