It is particularly relevant tothose who care for friends and family athome and those who work with peopleliving with dementia in various residentialsettings.It's AboutTimeThe Herbert Protocol is a national initiativeis named after George Herbert, a Warveteran of the Normandy landings, wholived with dementia. He died while hewas "missing" on his way to his childhoodhome.Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue is avolunteer charity that works in partnershipwith Thames Valley Police (TVP) to look forhigh risk vulnerable missing people, suchas those living with dementia.At the heart of the initiative is afor. It is retained in a safe place by thefamily or carer so that it is immediatelyavailable to police and Lowland RescueSearch & Rescue teams in the event thatthe person goes missing. By completing thequestionnaire in advance, it will not onlyspeed up the time taken to gather this vitalinformation about the person, but will alsoavoid putting additional stress on familiesand carers at a time when they are alreadyworried about their loved one.Kris Manning, Chairman of BerkshireLowland Search and Rescue said “Weare proud to be working in partnershipwith Thames Valley Police on the HerbertProtocol.
