48 Legal & Finance Prosper propels forward After months of discussions, Standish-based financial planners, Prosper Wealth Management, have secured significant investment from Independent Wealth Planners UK (IWP UK) as part of IWP’s national expansion programme. The change sees IWP UK take a major financial stake in the company and plans are now in place to expand Prosper’s reach across the North West as IWP’s Lancashire and Manchester Hub. The Prosper Wealth Management brand remains and David Barton will continue as CEO along with his current management team and staff. David founded the Chartered Financial Planning firm in 2003, and they now currently manage funds in excess of £170 million for its 600 clients in the Wigan and surrounding areas and have fee income of circa £1.4m. As those who read the financial press will testify, Prosper Wealth Management is one of several independent financial planners who have recently come together within IWP to access greater resources and infrastructure support. IWP UK chief executive David Inglesfield said ‘’the purchase, the firm’s sixth regional acquisition, was a good fit for his business. An associate of the Personal Finance Society and a Chartered Financial Planner, David holds an Advanced Diploma is financial planning in addition to a specialist qualification in Long Term Care advice. David Inglesfield IWP UK CEO David has 30 years’ experience in wealth management, in the UK and internationally. He has expertise in strategy development; business build; and people and commercial leadership. He has built and led five wealth management businesses and has spent much of his career in international markets. David holds the PFS Diploma and the STEP trust and estate planning Diploma.
