Remembering
Ken
Lady Dodd and
the Diddyman for
Orchard Way
It’s hard to believe that it’s two
years since we lost the Squire
of Knotty Ash, Sir Ken
Dodd and he is still sadly
missed by everyone
who enjoyed his childlike
imagination and his
ability to make
us laugh until the tears
ran down our faces.
For most of his life Ken had been
our near neighbour living just around
the corner and had been a great
supporter of the hospital
and its work.
So we thought it was only right that
we marked his long association with
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital
with a suitably fitting commemoration
and couldn’t think of anything better
than adding one of Doddy’s much
loved Diddymen to Orchard Way.
Lady Anne Dodd very kindly
agreed to this and visited
the hospital recently to
unveil the new figure.
The 2ft image of Dicky
Mint (the Diddyman who
is actually based on Ken
himself) has been placed among
the trees, animals and flowers of
Orchard Way and will be a long lasting
celebration with a man who really
helped the whole world laugh and, of
course, laughter is the best medicine!
