PrincipalWe All Can Work; But Together We Win.It is my honor and privilege to lead Tavua College. Thisinstitution is very dear to me as I have spent most years ofmy teaching career here. It is one of the high performinglarge secondary schools in the nation with more than950 students, 57 teaching staff and 7 support staff. Themassive infrastructure speaks volume of the school and itsachievements to date.Education at its most exceptional is built on relationships. As such, we continue to foster relationships with students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders alike in order tocreate a meaningful and connected learning opportunity forour students. This has further developed a unique path forevery child under our care to educate this year.Students from diverse ethnic groups enter our doors. Theschool has continued with its tradition to be an outstandingschool nationally across all academic, cultural and sportingareas. This year has been an exceptional one and we are proudto have achieved a lot in all facets of education. In addition, the students have generally displayed good studentshiphabits both at the College and at the EST (Vocational) Centrewith the exception of few who had been dealt according tothe School’s Behavioral Management Policy. Majority ofour students continue to value the encouraging learningenvironment that the school offers to them. Individually andcollectively, we have worked to provide every opportunity toour children this year to explore their talents and the resultshave been remarkable to date.“Believe and Achieve” has been the embedded theme whichcontinuously reminded the students and teachers the highexpectations for the year. We strongly believe that whenour students leave school, they not only graduate withtremendous communication, quantitative and creativeproblem solving skills but with a connection to and empathyfor the world beyond our College.I would like to acknowledge the support of the SchoolManagement. Special acknowledgement is extended to theSchool Treasurer for his presence in all school functions Iwould also like to acknowledge the support and guidance ofThe Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts Officials at theHead Quarters, the Divisional Education Officer, Western andthe Senior Education Officer, Ba/Tavua Education DistrictOffice and his support staff. However, it isa humble plea to those parents/guardians who do notprioritize their children’s education to change their mindsetand turn up for parental meetings for the benefit of theirchildren. Every parent plays pivotal role and my plea toall, please ensure that your child’s attendance to school ispunctual. Now that the Ministry for Education has taken thefinancial burden from the parents, the responsibility is on usto ensure our children are in the school. Our children are inthe digital era, however, nothing can stop us from fulfillingour roles more responsibly as Motivators and Supervisors for“Our Children.”We have also inculcated in our students the importance ofvaluing our environment and develop a caring attitude forthe environment. Finally, I congratulate the Editorial Board for its tirelessefforts in bringing out this publication.
