Home Economics is one of the subjects in Technical Employment Skills Training at
secondary level. It comprises major areas of study on food, clothing, home, and
family. Home –Economics in general promotes the well-being of individuals, families
and societies through the study of the provision of basic human requirements for
food, clothing and effective resources management.
The Home Economics curriculum provides students with opportunities to
understand basic human necessities and to study the well-being of individuals,
families, and societies, building up their awareness of the various dimensions
affecting well-being.
It is indeed a great honor for the Home – Economics department to contribute
towards “Reflector 2019.” The Vision of the department is to inculcate in students
the skills needed for a worthwhile living. The mission is to provide a peaceful and
resourceful environment that promotes the development of competent and skilled
students.
With the above goal, a strong team of three skillful teachers from Home - Economics
discipline, has guided the students’ enthusiasm throughout 2019. Evidence of
learning was most apparent when teachers set high expectations for their students
and when the students were stimulated and challenged to engage with the learning
process. This was evident in the 100% pass for Years 12 and 13 in past five years.
In addition, the curriculum at the senior secondary level prepares students for
further studies, for work or both. The curriculum at this level will therefore aim
to strike a balance between breadth and depth and to respond to current social,
economic, and technological developments, both globally and locally.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude towards the Management and
Administrative team for their endless support, encouragement, and motivation and
to all stakeholders including the parents who are backbone of our success.
We assure you our best efforts in pursuit for academic excellence and quality
performance.
