Pemac subjects contribute to increased achievement in academic subjects
and the overall health and well-being of young children at Tavua College.
It supports the student growth and development beyond the classroom
both physically and educationally. Decision-making and visual learning
skills are also supported in classes for students as they are required to use
creativity and critical-thinking skills during Pemac classes.
Art education plays a very important role in students growth and
development beyond the art classroom both physically and educationally
therefore this year an art room has been established for students to carry
out practical in conducive environment.
The following skills were taught during Pemac classes:
• Drawings using different mediums.
• Paintings – Landscape, still – life
• Weaving of mats, purse, basket
• Playing Musical instruments. During religious functions
in school student displayed their acquired skills using
Indian musical instruments, guitar, keyboard, drums.
• Physical Education classes were used to promote
healthy living style, basic sports skills.
2019 has been a very productive and successful year for Pemac department. Apart
from teaching and learning in the classroom, we have extremely performed well in
all extra – curricular activities at district, zonal and at national level.
- Retaining of Ra, Tavua and Vatukoula boys and girls division winner in athletics
- Won two gold medals at Coca- Cola games by Yeshnil Karan in 1500m in senior
boys’ grade and 3000m in open boys’ grade.
- Tavua / Vatukoula Netball Association was revived. Tavua College played a
pivotal role in revival of the association. Tavua College participated in the district
competition in under15/17/19 grade and won the under 17 grade. The team
also represented the College and district at the Zonal Competition.
- Under 17 Rugby team participated in Western Secondary Schools Rugby Union
Competition. Won the Ba/ Tavua / Ra zone competition.
- Under 17 rugby team was runner in Western Secondary Schools Rugby finals.
- The Under 17 rugby team created a history for first time qualified for the Deans
Quarter finals. (Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union)
- Participated in the Under15/17/ 19 grades FSSFA- Tavua Secondary Schools
Football Association. Was delayed the winner in all three grades.
- Under 15 soccer won the Ba / Tavua/ Rakiraki Zone competition and represented
the College in FSSFA Championship 2019.
- Under 19 soccer team participated in FSSFA Championship 2019 and created a
history by winning the championship.
