According to retailers andlocal manufacturers, about 70% of demandfor baby diapers was met with imports in2014, which has come down to 40%. Localmanufacturers are now fulfilling over 60%of domestic demand. Industry insiders say,the market size of baby diapers grows 20%to 30% annually, as the awareness aboutbaby care is increasing. The growth alsoowes to an increasing number of womengoing out to work, and so they need for theirbabies to be draped in diapers becoming aneveryday necessity. Currently, eight localcompanies are manufacturing baby diapers in Bangladesh. According to unofficial estimates of the marketplayers, Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd’s brand NeoCare holds a 10% share of the total market while it enjoysa 30% market share of locally produced baby diapers. Chu-Chu diaper of Bangladesh Silicon Corporationholds around 23% market share. Supermom of Square Toiletries holds a 10% share of the market. ACILimited launched Savlon Twinkle around two years ago, which now holds around 6% to 7% market share.Bashundhara diaper of Bashundhara Group, Thai baby diaper of AB Group, PRAN-RFL’s brand Kidstar,Smile baby diaper of Social Marketing Company (SMC) is among the local brands holding around 10%market share.
