La Chispa

Had you entered that afternoon,
When the skies were blue and I missed your ripped jean jacket
We might have held hands as we walked down the street
And when your name chimed on my phone I would’ve smiled
But you were busy
With work or a friend’s lost dog or a million other excuses
So instead of waiting for your footsteps, I left
And I walked down the street on my own.
And when my phone chimes now, I’m looking for a different name
I don’t miss you
When I walked under the blue skies that afternoon, the world was
still beautiful.
The leaves swirled around me and the sun coated the street in gold.
And I met a stranger with beautiful eyes
And the world was okay without you in it
Maybe if you had entered that afternoon, things would be different.
But I’m glad you didn’t because my life is so beautiful now.
The Boy
His eyes glistened and I saw our future
My heart will break and crumble into pieces
His hair, his eyes, his lips, and his pride
All have a common interest for my love
Once its all destroyed we will rebuild
Love can not take control of my life
But when I speak my truth you shall hear me
And when it breaks your love will endear me
No one could ever break the bond we have
For I will forever love you and cherish you
But life will always be tuff and very sad
So I hope for the best and I returned with the worst
That’s the way that love works, horribly
You hope it will succeed but you fail, miserably
