La Chispa

Around 2008 we go fly fishing in Alderbrook, NY. I hook dad with
seven hooks. The closest ER is two hours away. Later, dad carries me
around on his shoulders.
Around 2018 I meet Genevieve online and we have a voice chat after
the ceremony of my sister’s wedding. She is super sweet and kind to
me. We talk for hours about the movie, Coco. We are still friends to
this day.
Around 2010 our Great Pyrenese, Carl, is sent to the vet to be put
down on my 9th birthday.
Around 2002 I crawl out of my wooden crib without help.
Around 2015 Nick sexually harsses me and I stay quiet about it for
months.
Around 2020 I get into Whittier College in California and start planning
my future. I recite a poem for 12th grade English class in front of
my classmates. I am wearing a single stud earring in my left ear and
my regular clothing. I finally feel comfortable in my own skin.
