NEWS NEWS NEWSESAB ROGUE COMPACT MMA/LIFT TIG INVERTERS OFFERINDUSTRY-BEST COMBINATION OF PERFORMANCE, PRICEESAB Welding & Cutting Products todaylaunched Rogue, its new series of portableand affordable MMA/Lift TIG inverters withprofessional arc performance and controlssuch as adjustable hot start and adjustablearc force. These units measure 343 x 153 x 264 mmand feature ESAB’s next-level controltechnology to produce a smooth welding arcwith all types of MMA electrodes. The LiftTIG (DC TIG) function provides positive arcstarts without the use of high frequency. AllRogue models deliver a stable TIG arc downto 10 amps, giving welders the control theyneed to work on thin metal or delicatecomponents.“Rogue will cause the industry to re-thinkits perception of power, performance andprice,” says Bartosz Kutarba, Global ProductManager – Light Industry Equipment, ESAB.“Welders with Rogue’s capabilities often costtwice as much.” Users include mechanicalcontractors and those in general fabrication, maintenance and repair, rental, process pipe,food/beverage, farming and homeworkshops.Rogue features digital meters visible upfrom 25 m away, and an optional remotecontroller allows users to adjust currentsettings without needing to go back to themachine. A robust fiberglass-moldedhousing is built to withstand impact, and theweather resistant, IP23S rating makes Roguesuitable for use in tough applications. The initial launch includes four Rogue ESmodels: Rogue ES 150i (150A maximumoutput), Rogue ES 180i (180A maximumoutput), Rogue ES 180i Pro (180A maximumoutput) and Rogue ES 200i Pro (200Amaximum output). Rogue ES 150i, 180i Proand ES 200i Pro have a duty cycle of 25% atnameplate output, while the ES 180i has anoutput of 170A at 20% duty cycle.PROFESSIONAL FEATURESRogue Pro models run on 90 – 270V 1-phinput, enabling users to work in a widevariety of locations. Flexible automatic inputvoltage compensation ensures a steadywelding arc throughout the entire inputpower range, which makes them ideal formain power sources with dirty power andgenerator power, which often fluctuates.Pro models also feature Power FactorCorrection (PFC), so they draw less than 15Aof current. As a result, users can use a smallercircuit breaker and reduce the worry ofnuisance trips when welding at full output.Using the latest technology PFC circuit alsoenables welding with up to 100 m of cableextensions, further increasing locationflexibility. Rogue Pro models weigh 8.25 kgbecause of the PFC circuit, while Rogue 150iand 180i weigh 6.8 kg.All Rogue models offer adjustable hotstart and arc force control. Hot start increasescurrent beyond the set value for a fewmilliseconds to help establish the arc. Itespecially helps with low-hydrogenelectrodes, which can be notoriouslydifficult-to-start. Arc force control increasesamperage when the voltage drops below apreset threshold. As a result, operators canhold a shorter arc length without theelectrode sticking, which is beneficial whenwelding in narrow gaps, in corners and outof-position.Compared to other welders, Rogue unitsfeature a higher open circuit voltage (OCV),which also promotes better arc starts. TheRogue ES 150i/180i has an OCV of 63V andthe Pro models have an OCV of 78V.Rogue comes with a shoulder strap, plastic case and rugged work cable (3 m) andelectrode holder (5 m cable), both with 50mm dinse connections.ESAB Welding & Cutting Products is arecognised leader in the welding and cuttingindustry.
