CHAPS Hopes to Keep
to Schedule
quite badly and we have been able to take
deliveries of food, bedding and also help
out with bills. We have also supported the
people who have re-homed dogs with their
food bills and veterinary care.
We are very grateful for all donations and
the bric-a-brac that helps us to do the
fundraising, which in turn helps save our
rescue animals.

Like many groups and organisations,
Chase Arts for Public Spaces (CHAPS)
has taken an enforced break over the last
few months as the Coronavirus pandemic
has caused such disruption to all lives.
CHAPS’ committee is thankful that noone
directly involved with its latest
project to erect a lasting monument to
the work done by all miners of this
country at the National Memorial
Arboretum has been directly affected.
As restrictions are eased the committee
is looking to re-engage with the public
and continue the work it had begun to
raise funds for the memorial - it would be
wonderful if it were possible to keep to
the original timescale and dedicate the
memorial in June 2021, as originally
planned.

Happy ‘Not
Wedding’ Day!
During the recent Corona virus pandemic
many couples have had to cancel their
Wedding days and Rugeley couple, Lara
Coburn and Stuart Tapper, were no
exception.
Their wedding, originally planned for 6th
June 2020, has been re-scheduled for next
year however like many couples they
wanted to celebrate their original wedding
day in style and were given a few surprises
along the way!
Early morning they were sent a surprise
video of good wishes from guests who
would have been attending the wedding!
They dressed to impress with Lara wearing
a simple white dress and carrying a
bouquet made by her grandmother.
They then had a special “doortrait”
photography session at home to
commemorate the occasion by their
official wedding photographer, Abigail May

Friends of St Giles with items generously donated
by Newlife Charity
Life at St Giles Hospice has obviously
changed over recent weeks, a major
difference being that families can sadly not
visit the hospice at present. As well as
adding to the emotional stress, this also
provides practical difficulties. Prior to
Covid-19, patient families would provide
nightclothes and take laundry home for
washing. It is no longer possible for this
to happen: all laundry is now done on-site
and many patients, particularly those
admitted from hospital, have no change of
clothes.
St Giles had used up all of its stock but
Cannock-based Newlife Charity and
Cannock Friends of St Giles came to the
rescue in May, with four crates of
nightwear being provided from Newlife,
including nightdresses, dressing gowns,
underwear, slippers and pyjamas suitable
for men and women of all ages.
St Giles has launched Katie’s Appeal for
its key workers working during these
extremely uncertain times and anyone
who wishes to can donate at
www.stgileshospice.com/katie’sappeal. A
gift of as little as £5 could pay for meals
for a patient at the end of their life.
