DUAL CREDIT - ALAMO COLLEGES DISTRICT
Dual Credit Course Plan Action Steps - Alamo Colleges
Action Plan for Dual Credit Programs ACCD
There are several Dual Credit course programs available in SAISD. Through an annual MOU, college
partners are able to offer a variety of courses across English, Math, Science, Social Studies, World
Languages, Fine Arts and CTE course. The courses are designed for 10th through 12th grade students
who are identified as passing their EOC’s and in some cases their TSI exams in order to earn college credit
while in high school.
Teachers who are best suited for teaching these courses must have a Master’s degree in the content area,
or at least have a successful track record of students earning credit in that content area.
Upon identifying the teacher who will teach the Dual Credit class, we will need to get them ready and
approved by Alamo Colleges. All syllabi, materials and assessment items are available to trained teachers,
and are periodically updated and tuned to support student success.
Campus Action Steps
9 Identify the teachers who are interested in teaching dual credit on your campus.
9 Analyze student data to determine how many sections of each course will be needed.
9 Make sure the Dual Credit classes are on the choice slips.
9 Meet with students (and parents) for advising.
9 Schedule selected teachers to submit college transcripts showing Master’s degree for approval.
9 Identify the classroom/computer lab (if needed) and any technology needs/textbooks needed to
execute the DC class properly. Online classes will need stronger wifi or server to download or stream
videos.
9 Discuss and plan for any travel (transportation) you will need for course.
9 For additional information and support, contact the Advanced Academics Office/District Dual Credit
